INDICATORS - The pattern components that continuously rotate per year, month, daily, lunar or or solar phase. The indicators below articulate the current alignment.
Image: The Chinese character for home includes the character for this Pig. Needless to say in Chinese astrology, Pigs are the most domestic of signs. A modest sacrificial animal since ancient times, it has become a mainstay of the Chinese diet - considered a ‘great transformer,’ able to make garbage into sweet white meat. In parts of China a family’s wealth is measured in the number of Pigs one owns. The wild boar mother is considered one of the fiercest animals alive. The mother boar will attack a Tiger seeking its young without an interest in surviving - the ultimate expression of aggression. Pigs collect material objects and derive great sustenance from them. They see stuff as art/food.
LUNAR MONTH: YANG FIRE TIGER (1866, 1926, 1986, 2046, 2016) ‘Forest Tiger’
Natural renunciates, who enjoy the wilderness, today's Water Snake character offers focused patience, a nice pairing with the auspices:
Today is ideal for focus on small projects. There is lots of energy available today, be generous disciplined and honor your ancestors, to bank the most benefit.
YEAR of the BOAR Honest
Charged: plain speaking, caring, sensuous, compromising, eloquent, tolerant, humanitarian, reliable, unselfish, funny, hard-working, lucky and gregarious.
Deplete: self-indulgent, indulgent, oversexed, luxury loving, flamboyant, secretive, long-suffering, gullible and self destructive.

YIN EARTH BOAR (1899, 1959, 2019, 2079) ‘Monastery Pig’
Earth Boars are sensual, lethargic and aimless characters. They are hard to teach and hold very strong opinions. Their previous causes are strong but may support a hardened view of life. Attractive and popular socially they cannot maintain committed relationships (overly protective then cold). Those closest to them often become their worst enemies. Their material fortunes are however good and they live in comfort and luxury. Though they appear healthy they are plagued by chronic dampness.
LUNAR MONTH: YANG FIRE TIGER (1866, 1926, 1986, 2046, 2016) ‘Forest Tiger’
Fire Tigers are risk-takers and landmines of emotion and passion. Uncontrolled drama and half-baked scheming make their lives calamitous and their fortune dark. They are suited to warfare, but do not make good soldiers (lack education, discipline and respect). Many Fire Tigers die with more fate entanglements than they had at birth. A teacher/mentor can be a savior. They are likely to die young from wounds or accidental injury. If they live long their powerful constitutions make them insensitive to minor signs and symptoms that accumulate to crippling respiratory and circulatory illness in later years.
QI NODE: 2 Rain Water
New Yang and Old Yin
"Rain Water is the gentle, first yin response to the new, emerging yang. Heaven and Earth renew their active relationship. The moisture of the first spring rains refreshes the Earth. This Yin rain gives the Yang trapped in Earth (seeds, grains) nourishment. If the response of the Yang of Earth is weak, or if rain does not come, decay, rot and mold may occur. If yang responds well seed break open underground.
"Yang is ‘jump started’ in this qi node, but there may still be very few signs. Yang has survived another winter. Though Spring Festival is over, fresh offerings are made at ancestor and Earth altars to support Yang. This is the gan ying principle. Yin is weak and yang is still unformed, effort or exertion must be avoided.
"During this qi node qi is best at 4am. One should practice neigong just before dawn facing the sun as it rises in the northeast. Do not exert yourself, but let the yang and yin play - this renews us and gives us longevity. When the sun is up walk about the courtyard with arms akimbo. Loosen up. The environment is becoming very ‘friendly’ and ‘yangish’ - it is no longer pernicious, but it is our own impulsiveness (inner yang) that is dangerous. Impulse is the renewal but caution, rather than enthusiasm, makes it work.
"Yang is also beginning to move on its own. Mild and inspired, new actions are auspicious and rewarding. Avoid being ‘very productive’. Cultivate the qi of spring by reading new fiction, watching the latest film, go for short walks outdoors and enjoying and/or playing music."
LM The Way of Three Treasures
LUNAR HEXAGRAM: 42 Yi: Increase
“Yi is about the
natural progress of things when it is enhanced by the best of conditions. Sun
and water and good soil help the tree grow strong; yet a tree is also
subordinate to the warmth, the rain and the soil. The tree also naturally
"knows” what to take and leave. Yi is the “knowledge” of nature.”

SATURDAY February 23, Yin Metal Rabbit 19
Hexagram 11 Tai: Great
Lunar Mansion: The
Maiden / Bat
Solar Indicator: Divide
Today's character is social,
quick-witted and generous. Keep it close to home, enjoy family and friends,
edit and generally seek out pleasurable activities.
“Tai is favorable for going forward and expanding.
When Tai is divined natural growth is inevitable - all plans succeed, if
you do not push or rush them. Do not over analyze the situation. Recognize that
things unfold by themselves.” LM Changing: Zhouyi 11 Tai
“It is auspicious to
stay home, enjoy the arts, self-reflect, do inner panning and practice
austerity (meditation, fasting and rest). It is beneficial to guard your health
and conserve your qi. It is favorable to support others. Building may be safe
but not profitable.”
“It is not auspicious to
take risks, medical treatments, bury the dead (cause epidemics, bowel
disorders). To initiate industry (dig earth) and production on this day invites
calamity.”
LM Notes: The Maiden
"Holding back on
this day is related to deeper self-reflection, education of all sorts and
consulting with experts and elders - rather than forward action. It is not
about immature reluctance or cowardice but about shedding inessentials."
LM Notes: Divide
SUNDAY February 24, Yang Water Dragon 20
Hexagram 26 Da Chu: Great
Store
Lunar Mansion: The Void
/ Rat
Solar Indicator: Full
Patient and humorous, the Water Dragon character today should enhance results found through rest, education, planning and discipline.
“Routine work brings
about unexpected results. At the highest level of success is an opportunity to
be extraordinarily generous."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 26
Da Chu
“It is auspicious to
stay home, strengthen family ties and protect your children. Sleep and rest are
recommended (be cautioned by your dreams).”
“On this day it is not
auspicious to marry (your children will be delinquent or handicapped), bury the
dead or make offerings to ancestors (ghosts/dead will become demonic - causing
illnesses for 3 years!). Extra-marital affairs begun on this day will
eventually ruin your family, reputation and health. Medical treatments today
can cause injury and expose constitutional weakness.”
LM Notes: The Void
“This is an optimum day
for education, preparation, polishing, gathering resources and firming up
plans. Confidence grows as the right time and necessary resources are now part
of the vision. The qi is forming patterns and remaining in the channels.
Practice and disciplined cultivation bring confidence. The prince (yang) is
gaining support. Discipline in small matters succeeds. True confidence requires
no aggression. Though nothing needs to be done, the natural maturation of
strength occurs.”

MONDAY February 25, Yin Water Snake 21
Hexagram 5 Xu: Waiting
Lunar Mansion: The Roof
/ Swallow
Solar Indicator: Level
Natural renunciates, who enjoy the wilderness, today's Water Snake character offers focused patience, a nice pairing with the auspices:
"Xu suggests that waiting is a part of the natural
unfolding (fate) of all situations. Xu is about making the most of
waiting - using the power of patience and procrastination to avoid struggle and
develop wisdom in action. Accepting fate is not about abandoning intelligence.
A wise and able person has the sensitivity to find the freedom within fate. The
wisdom of Xu is the clarity to hold back and go forward at the right
times.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi 5 Xu
“The key to the auspices
has to do with how you act in a dangerous situation…It is auspicious to stay
home, repair walls (security), remodel, take tonics and comply with superiors.
It is favorable for medical treatments, exercise and eating well. It is
favorable to raise roof beams and rafters (begin new construction). It is
auspicious for family gatherings at home. Alliances and collaborations come to
fruit and good 'luck'. This day is inauspicious for travel because you will be
robbed (road) or drowned (sea). Strangers and strange (foreign) places offer
calamity.”
LM Notes: The Roof
“This is a day when
stable readiness and the qi of confidence blooms into activity. Youthful
anxiety and ambition are replaced by personal strength and confidence. From
this position all things look and are possible. Educated choices are easily
acted upon. Others join you to enlarge the success of activity. The prince
(yang) is mature, if inexperienced, but ready to act independently of his
mother (yin). Pleasure is the outcome of disciplined practice. Yang qi’s
previously renegade quality is matured, integrated and dominant.”

/ Pig
Solar Indicator: Settle
Today is ideal for focus on small projects. There is lots of energy available today, be generous disciplined and honor your ancestors, to bank the most benefit.

add up to success. Obstacles and delays can be expected in any forward action.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi 9
Xiao Xu
