Chinese Almanac Astrology August 30 - September 2, 2015

Welcome Autumn
Preparing a stew
A cauldron of harvest

Year: WOOD GOAT 4713
The Wood Goat, a little girl kid, lends a soft grounded context for us this year; Still very new, maturing quickly and playfully, sincere and disciplined. Herd up, slough off what no longer serves your appetite, compost and go fresh.

Lunar Month: WOOD MONKEY 7
Wood Monkey Month
"Wood Monkeys are versatile, adventurous and ambitious. Hurt by uncaring parents or orphaned in childhood, they tend to live unsettled lives. They often work at more than one job and live in more than one place - and have an untrusting character. Their ambitions can land them in lawsuits or in prison. A strong mentor or partner can release them from some obstructions. Strong in their youth, they decline in old age plagued by sleep disorders, congenital heart disorders and psychosomatic complications. They are prone to madness and depression.

Qi Node: 14 Heat Ends
Yin Seduces, Metal
"The End of Heat qi node is just that. It is the end of what the Chinese call 'late summer'. In this qu node autumn winds, though still slightly damp, turn slowly drier. Summer's yang is completely exhausted and harvest can begin in earnest.
It is common for the body to feel slightly 'heavy' at this time of year because the fluids and qi are slowing down in anticipation of the Dry and Cold. Harvesting is the main qi pattern. Gather in your resources, plan for the less productive months ahead.
What we harvest now is what we will rely on during the months ahead.
The dreams and aspirations of spring/summer must now be edited with sound and practical strategies.
During this qi node qi is best at 4 pm. Neigong should be practiced in short sessions in morning and afternoon. Afternoon naps are recommended (10 - 25 min). Plan to be at home most evenings. Party's over, time to clean house and tighten up the protocols." LM The Way of the Three Treasures

Lunar Hexagram 41 Sun: Diminish
"Sun is about how sacrifice brings good fortune. It is also about the enlightened management of diminished resources and the transformation of reduced circumstances into and advantage. Sun is about attracting new resources into your life by eliminating inessentials. It is a time when recycling the trappings of success allows you to stay in power. It is when less is more.

SUNDAY August 30, Yang Earth Tiger 17
Daily Hexagram 61 Zhongfu: Holding The Center
Lunar Lodge - The Birdstar
Solar Indicator - Destroy
The capacity today is tremendous. And yet, the most auspicious motives are those with a modest, gentle, tried and true approach. Loss is associated with the inessentials, an important and necessary step of maturation. Showing self sacrifice and calculated postponement truly honors the brilliant strength of the Tiger day and aligns with the otherwise precarious auspice that egotistical exploration will bring catastrophe.

MONDAY August 31, Yin Earth Rabbit 18
Daily Hexagram 60 Jie: Juncture
Lunar Lodge - The Bow
Solar Indicator - Danger
Cuddle up with your friends and family, gather to celebrate the successes and accomplishments of the summer as we move into autumn. It is the end of a chapter and appropriate for a pause. Even your enemies take a moment quench their thirst and take a breather, which is also opportunity for new alliance to form! It can be tricky, no doubt, but possible. Take advantage of the shift; build, engage in courtship, marriage, begin a new job, gather in festivities, sign contracts and let the newly emerging patterns take hold. "Beware grudges" LM Notes: Solar

Lunar Hexagram 13 Tong Ren: Community
"Tong Ren is about the strength of will that empowers a truly united community - they succeed without waffling. The Tong Ren method of success is to unite a group on the basis of commonly held goals and win by sheer numbers - rather than coercion. In the service of a great common good, opponents surrender and are ultimately included. When a leader can inspire or reveal the natural common spirit of a community, anything can be accomplished. Culture is at its best when it solemnizes and celebrates the heart-felt joy of community." LM Zhouyi

TUESDAY September 1, Yang Metal Dragon 19
Daily Hexagram 41 Sun: Dimish
Lunar Lodge - The Wings
Solar Indicator - Complete
Here's the deal. Today is best met with restraint, self sacrifice, following protocol and the natural chain of command. The characteristic tendency of the day will lend an egotistical sway, especially in Monkey month. The goal then is to find common ground in the splendor of communal benefit. Use the independence and flare for recklessness possible today, to empower and celebrate the wave of humanity that is sweeping the nation and redefining our culture as we know it. You know.

WEDNESDAY September 2, Yin Metal Snake 20
Daily Hexagram 19 Lin: Approach
Lunar Lodge - The Chariot
Solar Indicator - Harvest
All systems GO. A day not at all for postponement, but indeed, for the natural movement of momentum. Industry, marriage, burials, revolutions, all things unfold with ease, IF YOU ALLOW IT. Be gracious, generous and stroll. There is a sincere opportunity here to re-invent, re-invest and replace what no longer serves the greater good with what will promote and regenerate.

I am because we are. May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.

WEDNESDAY August 26, Yang Wood Dog 13
Daily Hexagram 58 Dui: Pleasuring
Lunar Lodge - The Trio
Solar Indicator - Full
The day is right for calibration. All systems are on and ready, balance the scales, and clear the workspace of inessentials. Get a hair cut. Medical treatments or procedures, studying, cleaning house or well planned group efforts flow in today's vein of synchronicity. Force, however, will throw off the balance. Express cooperation and pleasure through your good habits and self-cultivation. Do not try and finalize anything today, there is a larger picture just opening up, if you allow it.

THURSDAY August 27, Yin Wood Pig 14
Daily Hexagram 38 Kui: Incompatible
Lunar Lodge - The Well
Solar Indicator - Level
Just like the first day of school, today has a social buzz in the air. Partially frustrated and confused is appropriate. The cycle continues and the situation changes, so herd up and be adaptable. Your response is your experience; generosity, eating light, keeping it light and healthy routines take advantage of the day. "It is auspicious to build, remodel, do fengshui adjustments, take exams and maintain routine industry...It is favorable for medical treatments (particularly for initiating a series of treatments for a chronic condition). Contraindicated activity: It is not auspicious to postpone needed repairs, apologies or difficult tasks." LM Notes: Lunar

FRIDAY August 28, Yang Fire Rat 15
Daily Hexagram 54 Guimei: A Girl is Married
Lunar Lodge - The Ghost
Solar Indicator - Settle
Picture a reckless Robin Hood in meditation. Disciplined training can be used very effectively today to purge the unnecessary. "A little bit of self-sacrifice, on all sides, keeps the boat of society floating." LM Zhouyi  "Focus and repetition succeed. Procrastination and equivocation is contraindicated." LM Notes: Solar  There is a rambunctiousness possible today, apply it toward the greater good, meditation, study, fast, be generous and consult the oracle. Make offerings especially to the dead and places they are honored.

SATURDAY August 29,  Yin Fire Ox 16
Daily Hexagram Consult the Oracle
Lunar Lodge - The Willow
Solar Indicator - Maintain
A good day to rise early and tend to traditions and routines. Practice meditation, fast, compose memorials and make offerings. "It is ideal for funerals/burials and the complete resolution of the unsettled dead (exorcism)." LM Notes: Lunar  Consult the oracle and embrace the new traditions and alliances showing up. Spend some time on your own. Generosity is brilliant.

I am because we are. May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.

On a personal level, Heng warns us that when self-discipline, loyalty and perseverance give us great power we must avoid the trap of arrogant self-righteousness and moral rigidity. Ready for another shift of gears...time to prepare for Autumn.

Welcome Autumn
Preparing a stew
A cauldron of harvest

Year: WOOD GOAT 4713
Lunar Month: WOOD MONKEY 7

The Wood Goat, a little girl kid, lends a soft grounded context for us this year; Still very new, maturing quickly and playfully, sincere and disciplined. Herd up, slough off what no longer serves your appetite, compost and go fresh.

Qi Node: 13 Autumn Begins
"Yin Reverses Yang
In Autumn Begins there is the reversal of what the Chinese call "late summer". At this time autumn qi (particularly in evening/night), which is Dry, will reverse the lingering damp heat pattern. It often causes typhoons and tornadoes.
During this qi node qi is the best at 3pm.
Now and then, during the day, practice neigong facing southwest. Do not overexert yourself (or sweat); let the qi move the blood and transform nutrients. Dress lightly (cover well), and stroll about in the morning to avoid the damp.
Chew well. During the day eat two meals, rest (nap) after lunch, snacks of fruit (pears) are good on hot days. Drink green and flower tea and in the evening enjoy a light savory soup.
Vegetarian meals are fine.
Activity should turn from outward to inward - begin to edit and then store what has been accomplished. Continue the cautions of  Great Heat.
Before bed bucket bathes and go to sleep not long after dark. Do not go about in the evening or by the coast. Rest, relax, travel (inland), exercise (modestly) and do not be exposed to coastal or night winds." LM The Way of the Three Treasures

SATURDAY August 22, Yang Metal Horse 9
Daily Hexagram 5 Xu: Waiting
Lunar Lodge - The Stomach
Solar Indicator - Open
A good day to stay home and clean up your act, just a bit. Collecting receivables and canceling debts owed you shores up your finances while acceptance and patience offer nuggets of wisdom. Tend your home, build and spend time with family and friends. "Travel is risky" LM Notes

Qi Node: 14 Heat Ends

Lunar Hexagram 12 Pi: Obstruction
"Pi is a situation in which good or superior people are temporarily held back by minor obstructions. This includes mistakenly working against your own Fate. It is also about a time when inferior, small-minded people prevail. When the best people are stagnant, held back or obstructed; change for the better is inevitable.

Pi is not a time for going forward. You are blocked by your own pretense or by external circumstances. Be humble, patient and cancel or postpone great plans. Adaptation and patience are the keys to positive change in the future." LM Zhouyi

MONDAY August 17, Yin Wood Ox 4
43 Guai: Lurch - The Roof, Maintain -
The indicators today have a fascinating potential. With a capacity routed in tradition and strength (family relationships), an opportunity arrives to make a culture shift, together. What may appear as an obstacle, may in fact turn into a tool, an ally. Favorable for everything relating to foundational collaboration, medical treatments, home repair/remodel/roof raising, family gatherings and collective compliance. Traveling and being away from home may be inauspicious for your character. Take a nap, 7 - 14 minutes, sometime in the afternoon.

TUESDAY August 18, Yang Fire Tiger 5
14 Dayou: Prosperity - The House, Destroy -
An excellent day to get real. Drop-to-your-knees gratitude today will sail you on and on and on. Honor everyone and especially the dead. "The surprise is that the ascension to power includes a loss (of the last vestiges of childishness). The invader must now honor his officers, make solid alliances with former enemies and show self-sacrifice to inspire a new unity." LM Notes: Solar  Passions can be fierce on a Fire Tiger day, can you find passion for humility?

WEDNESDAY August 19, Yin Fire Rabbit 6
34 Da Zhuang: Great Strength - The Wall, Danger -
There is a spurt of energy possible today. Where will you direct your focus? Think communal benefit, innovative system design, fengshui adjustments, socializing, commitments and shared visions. Keep it light, where there is unfamiliar territory, elegance will offer safe passage.

Lunar Hexagram 32 Heng: Constancy
"Heng is about the power of constancy - the celestial model of Nature. Heng says we can be as constant and persevering as Heaven. Favorable for travel means that constancy removes all obstacles (ill omen) to progress.

On a personal level, Heng warns us that when self-discipline, loyalty and perseverance give us great power we must avoid the trap of arrogant self-righteousness and moral rigidity. In other words, it is in the observance of what is natural that we find constancy; and that naturalness includes generosity, flexibility and sensitivity." LM Zhouyi

THURSDAY August 20, Yang Earth Dragon 7
Consult the Oracle - The Stride, Complete -
There are moments after a game is won, before teams shake hands, before medals are adorned. It is a time to take stock, hydrate, put on another layer, be honorable and kind. Auspicious for resting and enjoying the arts OR fortifying, repairing, preparing for autumn, medical treatments and routine work. Travel and digging the ground are ill-advised. Consult the oracle for further direction.

FRIDAY August 21, Yin Earth Snake 8
9 Xiao Xu: Minor Force - The Mound, Harvest -
The value of collective work done this last week will emerge united and with ease today. A "Midas touch" is possible, if you stand back to let new alliances join in the group effort. Today is best with a dose of self-reflection and discipline, expect setbacks. " Do not forget timeliness and patience. In Xiao Xu situations patience, subordination and alliance are the keys to success." LM Zhouyi  "It is a good time to build (thresholds, public buildings) and add on (growth of family: new baby, new bride) to property. It is a day for feasting, gatherings and romance. Marriages contracted / performed today produce resourceful and wealthy children. It is an excellent day for assemblies, parties and celebrations...Contraindicated activity: It is inauspicious to enter retreat, practice renunciation or travel alone. Avoid confrontation." LM Notes: Lunar

I am because we are. May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.

FRIDAY August 14, Yang Water Dog 1
43 Guai: Lurch - The Oxboy, Full -
The Lunar Indicators: The Oxboy, The Maiden and The Void, have arrived. Generally it means this weekend is best for retreat, disengagement and any use of force. Backing up today is more advantageous than driving forward. Though the lights may be green, listen for the siren. Responding with generosity, patience and discipline will keep the avenues open and mishap at bay. Auspicious for retreat, meditation, self-cultivation, generosity and relaxation. Inauspicious for travel, pressing forward, medical procedures, contracts, marriages or burying the dead.

SATURDAY August 15, Yin Water Pig 2
1 Qian: Heaven - The Maiden, Level -
"When you play in the sky like a dragon, among dragons, judicious timing (rather than a show of force) is appropriate. The key to power of primordial yang is found in cautious preparation, conservation and the management of yin." LM Zhouyi  Enjoy leisure time with friends today, share food and ideas. Enjoy the arts, study, self-reflect, more food and well cultivated entertainment.

SUNDAY August 16, Yang Wood Rat 3
1 Qian: Heavn - The Void, Settle -
Casual events that have been thoroughly planned and prepared for go well, especially when the continuity of lineage has been honored in the process. If things don't go well, keep calm and carry on. Chances are there isn't much you could have done to prevent it, unsettled ancestors may be disrupting what they don't understand, so keep a light and adaptable attitude. Avoid medical treatments, marriages, burying the dead or making offerings to ancestors. Enjoy the company that you're with and especially tend your close friends and family.

I am because we are. May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.

Chinese Almanac Astrology August 10 - 13, 2015

Hello,

Check my website for updates before they get to you!

Year: WOOD GOAT 4713
Lunar Month: WATER GOAT 6

The Wood Goat, a little girl kid, lends a soft grounded context for us this year; Still very new, maturing quickly and playfully, sincere and disciplined. Herd up, slough off what no longer serves your appetite, compost and go fresh.

Water Goat Month
"Water Goats are talkative, sentimental and persevering characters. Their emotional attachments to people and things cloud their wisdom. Their consideration of others undermines their success. Egalitarian idealists they work very hard ‘against all odds.’ Their generosity is unfailing. Rarely thanked for their work they nevertheless are strong helpers. They are often robbed or make poor judgements in financial matters and their fortune does not smooth out until old age (60+). Though rarely ill their illness tends to be complex and hard to diagnose and/or treat."
LM Notes

Lunar Hexagram 55 Feng: Abundance
"Feng is about and enormous windfall, harvesting a bumper crop or a fated reward that comes (and goes) naturally. It expresses the mysterious and fertile generosity of nature. The mention of astronomical and astrological influences in several of the lines indicates that success is a matter of fate - synchronicity with the cycles of time. Do not waste time feeling unworthy or claim the success is yours. Honor all co-factors and reward all co-workers. Celebrations and generosity express abundance."  LM Zhouyi

MONDAY August 10, Yang Earth Horse 26
9 Xiao Xu: Minor Force - The Heart, Open -
The day is described well by its hexagram: "Xiao Xu represents a well-intentioned, perhaps idealistic, person who needs to wait, but may not wait, for sufficient strength to act. There is a warning here not to overestimate your power to accomplish something. Do not underestimate your obstacles or opponents. Do not forget timeliness and patience. In Xiao Xu situations patience, subordination and alliance are the keys to success." LM Zhouyi  Good for subordination, education and routing work. Forcing momentum is immature and simply doesn't take advantage of the openness of the day, relax your posture and honor your ancestors.

TUESDAY August 11, Yin Earth Goat 27
Consult the Oracle - The Tail, Shut -
The mixed auspices of the day enhance the invitation to LET IT GO. Herd up with the emerging wave of humanity, celebrate what change offers to the table and relax the notion that you know anything. Insight won't happen under a firm grip. Be generous, self-cultivate, consult the oracle and comply.

WEDNESDAY August 12, Yang Matel Monkey 28
34 Da Zhuang: Great Strength - The Basket, Design -
A good day to tune your wheels, balance your checkbook, make new or renewing fengshui adjustments and calibrate with your new allies. Best for planning, self-reflection, ceremonies, marriages and funerals. Honoring the ancestors is most auspicious. Pushing the envelope invokes disaster, so if you must, with wisdom and luck should be your motto.

THURSDAY August 13, Yin Metal Rooster 29
14 Dayou: Prosperity - The Ladle, Divide -
"Holding back on this day is related to deeper self reflection, education of all sorts and consulting with experts and elders - rather than forward action. It is not about mature reluctance or cowardice but about shedding inessentials." LM Notes: Solar  An excellent day for being generous, it bears fruit for you down the line, inspires connections and strengthens bonds. A good day for analysis, honesty, timely saving or spending. Daoist religious rites, transmission of (esoteric) teachings, taking exams and routine work "bring great success/reward on this day" (LM notes). Digestion today will happen during light exercise and conversation; watch your mental state calm down.

I am because we are. May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.

Chinese Almanac Astrology August 6 - 9, 2015

LM Notes

Qi Node: 12 Great Heat
"Great Heat refers to the extreme heat in the yang twilight of the year. Oppressive heat draws up the dampness of the Earth. At this time declining Yang partners with the inter-seasonal Earth and creates Dam Heat. Damp Heat has an oppressive quality (mold, rot) in this qi node and it fosters unprecedented growth and a legion of illnesses. Though much continues to grow and flourish we must avoid the pernicious quality of the season. The great mantle of Yang must be handed down to Yin. The wise prepare for transference not defeat.

During this qi node the environmental qi (Heaven/Earth) is best at 2pm. Practice neigong several times a day facing due south. Dress lightly, wash your hair often and stroll about to avoid the damp. Chew well. During the day eat two meals, rest (nap) after lunch, snacks of fruit (melon, grapes) are good on hot days. Drink green and flower tea (jasmine, honeysuckle, lily) and in the evening enjoy a light savory soup.

It is a good time for initiating new and practical disciplines of conservation (that anticipate autumn). Activity should slowly turn from forward to reverse - begin to edit what has been accomplished. Cut back on obligations. Pace yourself. It is not a time for laziness and indolence but it is auspicious to edit what is 'unrighteous' - do not store what will mold or close down too soon.

Upon waking and before bed bucket bathe (with a final cold salt rinse), watch the sunset and go to sleep not long after dark. Rest, relax, travel (vacation by the sea), exercise and do not be exposed to coastal winds.

Guard the heart (shen) by modestly expressing your feelings - it is natural to feel emotionally lethargic or distant. Expect less from those around you to avoid emotional congestion. Be real! Honestly clear away emotional heaviness - denial. Damp heat inspires denial. Neurosis can easily go pyschotic. " LM The Way of the Three Treasures

Lunar Hexagram 59 Huan: Overflowing
"Huan represents the natural floods that come from time to time. If we can learn to bob and float with them, we will soon be able to plant in the rich soil deposits they bring. Huan speaks of the sometimes unpredictable partnership we have with Heaven. The wisdom of Huan is found in learning to survive. Huan may purge us or bring losses (sacrifice), but it also brings gifts - new and renewed resources. If we are relaxed, we float and, in the end, are left on high, dry and fertile ground." LM Zhouyi

THURSDAY August 6, Yang Wood Tiger 22
10 Li: Tread With Care - The Horn, Danger -
A fine line to walk today, your response is everything. Use discretion but don't be afraid to initiate most anything. Youth, new beginnings and proposals (asking permission/making your case) have particular favorability. The timing is tentative but successful if you play your cards right. Not a time for overcoming obstacles, just bite sized alignment.

FRIDAY August 7, Yin Wood Hard 23
11 Tai: Wide-Spreading - The Neck, Complete -
"Wisdom approaches and withdrawing succeeds." LM Notes: Solar  Best to ride the flow today and acknowledge that you can't push the river. Be artful and simplify. Make plans, retreat or consult a physician. Follow healing protocols, orders of superiors and collect data, NOT take action. No contracts, marriages, industry, burying the dead, going to battle or travel at sea.

Before bed bucket bathes and go to sleep not long after dark. Do not go about in the evening or by the coast. Rest, relax, travel (inland), exercise (modestly) and do not be exposed to coastal or night winds." LM The Way of the Three Treasures

SATURDAY August 8, Yang Fire Dragon 24
26 Da Chu: Great Store - The Root, Complete -
The self-cultivation possible today will have a lasting affect and sweep as broadly over the globe and into your ancestral past as we allow it. Step into the opportunity to successfully heal, to resolve, focus on friends and family and deeply honor the dead. Good for education, consulting oracles and/or physicians and general compliance. Marriages, weddings, contracts and sea travel are ill-advised.

SUNDAY August 9, Yin Fire Snake 25
5 Xu: Waiting - The Room, Harvest -
There is an ease to the day if you stand back, even postpone appropriately. "The qi seems to float us forward quite naturally - ebbing and flowing are both acceptable. The lessons of earthly life are found in both maturing and declining." LM Notes:Solar  Consult the Oracle, practice ritual and meditation. Do not finalize but DO sweep your front and back steps, make investments and adjustments. Do not take on new responsibilities, exaggerate your capacity or be ungrateful.

I am because we are. May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.

TUESDAY August 4, Water Rat 20
38 Kui: Speration - The Wings, Maintain -
Mixed auspices smear over today, warnings against forcing progress and best for seeking guidance and enjoying the little things. Self reflection and cultivation offer a path, honing in on the collective contribution and keeping it light, will keep you adaptable today. "Expect to be frustrated but make small gains...Good for retreats, funerals, burials, meditation and study. Bad for travel, romance, partnerships, family matters and making your case." LM Zhouyi

WEDNESDAY August 5, Water Ox 21
58 Dui: Happiness -The Carriage, Destroy -
Cycles of time come to the end of a chapter today. Routine work done well, banking, composting and travel all bode well. Great for industry and building, marriages bring inspiration and burials/funerals offer the dead a most appropriate path to resolution. Move throughout your day with grace and don't procrastinate.

I am because we are. May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.

Lunar Hexagram 10 Lu: Treading

"The weak and inexperienced or naive may succeed when given the freedom and daring to lead. Unique circumstances lead to an unexpected or unusual outcome. The process contains danger because you do not have the power to create success with certainty. Everything depends on exactly how you conduct yourself. Humility, caution, fear-management and contemplation bring success." LM Zhouyi

SUNDAY August 2, Metal Dog 18
Consult the Oracle - The Bird-Star, Level -
Today has an opportunity for great resolve of ancestral qi patterns. With a kind and gentle approach to the day, form alliances, take appropriate actions and be disciplined. Exaggerating your strength or capacity could be ruinous. A fledgeling may have been able to leave the nest finally, but it's no match for a predator, it must learn to take cues and respond. Consult the Oracle and comply. There is support all around today if you are graceful enough to listen. Good for industry and routine work (who knows who you'll meet) though dangerous for family contracts, marriages/funerals, travel or medical treatments.

MONDAY August 3, Metal Pig 19
54 Gui Mei: Marry the Younger Sister - The Bow, Settle -
"A little bit of self-sacrifice, on all sides, keeps the boat of society floating." LM Zhouyi  Opening to the common good should be easy today, auspicious for feasts and celebrations, marriages and contracts of all kinds, building and buying property. New jobs and routine work done with focus and precision go well. Just be a little humble about it. Contraindications are burials, procrastination and seclusion (you could miss out!).

I am because we are. May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.

Sink into, stretch your body and move throughout the day. Movement will keep Rooster Qi attentive and affective. "The Qi is forming patterns and remaining in the channels... The Prince (yang) is gaining support. Discipline in small matters succeed. True confidence requires no aggression." LM Notes/Solar  Hold to your center today, in conversation, action and stance. Ground your toes and heels, your core, into EARTH. Consider the stag. Annually birthing and shedding his rack, rebirth and death without questioning that possibility. Like mycorrhizae spread throughout the surface of the planet, honor your ancestors, calibrate and align fengshui.
