fire, just, expansive, congenial and quiet.

Deplete: stubborn, argumentative, spiteful, vain, rigid, frozen with anxiety, stingy and

Image: The Dog talked about in Chinese Astrology is the Chow. This dog has been domesticated for more than 5000 years, both as an aggressive house guard and a battlefield companion. The battlefield Chow was ferocious at crippling the horses of the enemy chariots while never losing sight of its trainer (whose corpse it would protect even with its own life). The Dog epitomizes loyalty."

YANG EARTH DOG (1898, 1958, 2018, 2078) ‘Mountain Dog’

EARTH is the native element of the Dog Earthly Branch. Earth Dogs are modest, funny

and independent characters. They are light-hearted and generous, often quitting difficult

situations and avoiding confrontations. A short temper is hidden behind their joking. Strong

idealistic aspirations fill their youth and soften as the hardships of life close in. They do not

express their feelings or thoughts easily. They are prone to qi stagnation and poor circulation."

LUNAR MONTH: YIN METAL ROOSTER (1861, 1921, 1981, 2041) “Caged Rooster”
METAL is the native element of the Rooster Earthly Branch. Metal Roosters are meticulous, articulate and confident characters. They have great good fortune in material terms. They make good financial advisers and this attracts many people to them. Their bodies are strong but they are troubled by mental instability. They are prone to mental disorders, kidney failure and exhaustion.

MONDAY September 24, Yin Earth Goat 15
Hexagram 41 Sun: Diminish Lunar Mansion: The Bow / Deer Solar Indicator: Open

A proud and aloof character of the day may miss opportunity. Get open-hearted, feel empowered by simplification and celebrate. Alliances are particularly helpful today...

Sun is about how sacrifice brings good fortune. It is also about the enlightened management of diminished resources and the transformation of reduced circumstances into an advantage. Sun is about attracting new resources into your life by eliminating inessentials. It is a time when recycling the trappings of success allows you to stay in power. It is when less is more.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi 41 Sun
“Auspicious activity: It is auspicious to build and buy new property. It is an especially good day to get married. It is favorable for divination, signing contracts, romance/courtship and all forms of partnership. Good auspice is especially related to festive group events, banqueting, family gatherings and/or community celebrations. It is an excellent day to take office (begin a new job).
Contraindicated Activity: It is not auspicious for funerals/burials (become unsettled: ghosts). Seclusion or isolation is unfavorable (miss opportunity).”
LM Notes: The Bow

"An open heart gives the option to acquire great wisdom.”
LM Notes: Open

TUESDAY September 25, Yang Metal Monkey 16
Hexagram 60 Jie: Juncture Lunar Mansion: The Wings / Serpent Solar Indicator: Shut

Versatility is available today where otherwise forward momentum is not. Keep it light and pay attention, boundaries may be very useful.

"Favorable for the practice of circumspection and restraint. Being observant and conservative with resources is auspicious. Knowing how to see and when to use limits brings success."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 60 Jie: Juncture

“It is auspicious to continue routine work and to uphold and support your superiors. It is auspicious for religious rituals (not ancestral), divination (and compliance), family gatherings and celebrations. It is favorable for sponsoring and/or attending public and cultural events.
“It is very unfavorable for marriage (cause chronic illness and premature death for both partners), funerals and burials. It is inauspicious for traveling far from home. Buildings begun today become money pits (need constant repair) and the construction will cause injuries and/or accidental deaths.”
LM Notes: The Wings

WEDNESDAY September 26, Yin Metal Rooster 17
Hexagram 61 Zhongfu: Holding Center
Lunar Mansion: The Chariot / Earthworm
Solar Indicator: Design

Today offers a double dose of the Metal Rooster. Be sure to get some exercise and/or meditate. The auspices suggest both to 'engage!' and to not get in the way. Find ways to support and/or observe the momentum already in full swing.

"The action that arises from stillness is able to ‘work wonders.’ A Zen archer lets the arrow find the target without meddling."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 61 Zhongfu: Holding the Center

“Auspicious Activity: Great success comes to anyone who initiates and continues industry. Business booms, all prosper. Building and remodeling go well (bring prestige). Marriages will inspire both partners to be their best and they will produce brilliant offspring. Funerals, memorials and burials will allow the dead true peace (and produce scholar offspring). Contraindicated activity: It is very unfavorable to procrastinate and/or postpone.”
LM Notes: The Chariot

“It is an excellent day to recover wisdom by stepping back, planning, recalling alliances and reassessing our position.”
LM Notes: Design

THURSDAY September 27, Yang Water Dog 18
Hexagram Consult the Oracle
Lunar Mansion: The Horn / Crocodile
Solar Indicator: Divide

There is a kind and frugal nature to the day...temper tantrums, or ecstasy are possible. When in doubt, consult the oracle, and focus on where beginnings are taking place. Education is auspicious.

“It is auspicious to begin or initiate any activity (marriage) or series of activities. It is a good day to buy property, plant a garden, apply for and/or begin a new job. It is ideal to apply to or enter school, begin a construction or remodeling project. It is auspicious for marriage proposals and making your case as asking permission is favorably received. All activities related to children and/or young people are auspicious. Its first appearance each year (or any Spring season) is particularly auspicious. A child born on this day will be intelligent and fortunate.

“Contraindicated activity: Funerals, memorials, constructing tombs and burials will bring about disaster to a family. It is not time for exerted effort or overcoming obstacles. The qi is fresh and unformed and therefore should not be pressed into fixation (slavery).”
LM Notes: The Horn

"Holding back on this day is related to deeper self-reflection, education of all sorts and consulting with experts and elders - rather than forward action. It is not about immature reluctance or cowardice but about shedding inessentials."

QI NODE: 15 White Dew
“Yin Descends
"White Dew qi node shows the shifting relationship between collapsing yang and ascendant yin. When yin 'descends' it is actually taking charge - yin style. In the morning white dew is the harbinger of change. The clouds are high in the sky. The growing west wind is cool. Dew is fresh yin qi - a fragile, glimpse of snow. The growing yin almost goes unnoticed. As the last of the summer qi subsides, a cool west wind (qi) appears and the season of autumn begins and develops. Geese migrate south and fall harvest continues in earnest.

“White Dew is a time of clarity and stillness. During this period the environment grows ever more yin and is characterized by a cool, dry wind (metal element). During this qi node the environmental qi is best at 5pm. Neigong should be done indoors. Do not eat at all after 7pm.
In the imagination of the poets and hermits of China it is a time of year when white nymphs are offering inspiration. Unlike their superiors, the Jade Lads and Ladies, these nymphs inhabit the sea and forest, not the Celestial realms. White dew, a rare or first form of frost of the year, is the signal of their presence. They show us white dew to remind us to prepare for the arrival of the Celestials (yin).”

THURSDAY September 20, Yin Wood Rabbit 11
Hexagram 30 Li: Oriole
Lunar Mansion: The Well / Tapir

Solar Indicator: Destroy

There is a shrewd and frivolous possibility for the day, contrary to the auspices which otherwise encourage dedicated focus on calibration. There is a timely window of opportunity. Cancellation is more appropriate than postponement.

“Though things seem bright, one cannot rely on the brightness to last for a long time. Seize the moment. No battle is won without sacrifices on both sides."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 30 Li

“It is auspicious to build, remodel, do fengshui adjustments, take exams, and maintain
routine industry. The earth can be dug (gardening = wealth) and it is a good day to donate,
buy or sell (investment) real estate. Community or charity projects will flourish. It is
favorable for apologies. It is favorable for medical treatments (particularly for initiating
a series of treatments for a chronic condition).
“It is not auspicious to postpone needed repairs, apologies or difficult tasks. It is not good
for funerals or burials of those who died by suicide, violence or sudden illness because
others will soon follow.”
LM Notes: The Well

"Today calculated loss (cancellation) succeeds”
LM Notes: Destroy

FRIDAY September 21, Yang Fire Dragon 12
Hexagram 49 Ge: Molting
Lunar Mansion: The Ghost / Sheep
Solar Indicator: Danger

Impulsive, lovable and handy...the energy available from the character of today may get you into trouble. Go for rest, release, digestion, meditation, and honoring ancestors, nothing too proactive or assertive.

"It is a favorable time for dramatic reform and revolution - night becoming day. If you are ready to accept serious change and ready to let go of the past, everything is favorable. If you fear change, Ge donates the painful torment of unsuccessful resistance.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi  49 Ge

“It is especially auspicious for funeral/burial (resolution of fate). It is also good to make gifts/donations to temples and offerings to the divinities, spiritual guardians and make memorials for the dead (ancestors/lineage). It is advantageous for entering retreat, meditation, fasting, spiritual initiation, ordination and ‘crossing over’ into transitory states.
“It is not auspicious for worldly industry of any kind. It is a bad day to go to war (many casualties) or get married (husband will die early). One should avoid the wilderness (possession/illness will result).”
LM Notes: The Ghost

Doing only what needs to be done is best. Old habits or patterns of pressing forward will invite
catastrophe. Beware grudges.”
LM Notes: Danger

SATURDAY September 22, Yin Fire Snake 13

Hexagram 13 Tong Ren: Community
Lunar Mansion: The Willow / Roebuck
Solar Indicator: Complete
Another day for retreat, alliance and rest. The character of the day adds a Midas Touch...but also some distractedness.

“It is favorable to go forward in concert with others after reflection and alliance is established."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 13 Tong Ren

“It is especially auspicious for seclusion and the composing of memorials. It is favorable to make offerings and practice divination. It is fruitful on this day to fast, enter retreat, practice meditation and receive spiritual initiation and/or ordination (lineage). It is ideal for funerals / burials and the complete resolution of the unsettled dead (exorcism). “It is not auspicious for marriage. Do not indulge in lawsuits (as it will ruin 3 generations).”
LM Notes: The Willow

“It is a day for resting on your laurels...The way of perfecting power is austerity and restraint. Do less, have less, show less and seek nothing. Enjoy what is already manifest.”
LM Notes: Complete

SUNDAY September 23, Yang Earth Horse 14
Hexagram 19 Lin: Approach
Lunar Mansion: The Birdstar / Horse
Solar Indicator: Harvest
Today's character and the auspices align much better today than over the past few. There is strength and impulse available today to utilize and guide, though not without obstacle. Find your center, welcome alliance and play with being both a leader and a follower today...

"You must be patient and appropriate in your progress, but do not procrastinate. The auspice is for forward action."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 19 Lin

“Think powerful, but gentle succeeds...It is auspicious for building and routine work (you will meet / hobnob with the powerful). Good auspice is directly related to continuity, convention and not innovation.
“It is not auspicious for funerals/burials or marriages (rape, divorce). It is a dangerous day for travel and/or medical treatments.”
LM Notes: The Birdstar
"Let new resources and assistants come forward by standing back.”
