INDICATORS - The pattern components that continuously
rotate per year, month, daily, lunar or or solar phase. The indicators
below articulate the current alignment.
YEAR of the BOAR Honest
Charged: plain speaking, caring, sensuous,
compromising, eloquent, tolerant, humanitarian, reliable, unselfish, funny,
hard-working, lucky and gregarious.
Deplete: self-indulgent, indulgent, oversexed, luxury
loving, flamboyant, secretive, long-suffering, gullible and self destructive.
Image: The Chinese character for home includes the character for this Pig. Needless to say in Chinese astrology, Pigs are the most domestic of signs. A modest sacrificial animal since ancient times, it has become a mainstay of the Chinese diet - considered a ‘great transformer,’ able to make garbage into sweet white meat. In parts of China a family’s wealth is measured in the number of Pigs one owns. The wild boar mother is considered one of the fiercest animals alive. The mother boar will attack a Tiger seeking its young without an interest in surviving - the ultimate expression of aggression. Pigs collect material objects and derive great sustenance from them. They see stuff as art/food.
YIN EARTH BOAR (1899, 1959, 2019, 2079) ‘Monastery Pig’
Earth Boars are sensual,
lethargic and aimless characters. They are hard to teach and hold very strong
opinions. Their previous causes are strong but may support a hardened view of
life. Attractive and popular socially they cannot maintain committed
relationships (overly protective then cold). Those closest to them often become
their worst enemies. Their material fortunes are however good and they live in
comfort and luxury. Though they appear healthy they are plagued by chronic
dampness.
LUNAR MONTH: YANG FIRE TIGER (1866, 1926, 1986, 2046, 2016) ‘Forest Tiger’
Fire Tigers are
risk-takers and landmines of emotion and passion. Uncontrolled drama and
half-baked scheming make their lives calamitous and their fortune dark. They
are suited to warfare, but do not make good soldiers (lack education,
discipline and respect). Many Fire Tigers die with more fate entanglements than
they had at birth. A teacher/mentor can be a savior. They are likely to die
young from wounds or accidental injury. If they live long their powerful constitutions
make them insensitive to minor signs and symptoms that accumulate to crippling
respiratory and circulatory illness in later years.
QI NODE: 2 Rain Water
New Yang and Old Yin
"Rain Water is the
gentle, first yin response to the new, emerging yang. Heaven and Earth renew
their active relationship. The moisture of the first spring rains refreshes the
Earth. This Yin rain gives the Yang trapped in Earth (seeds, grains)
nourishment. If the response of the Yang of Earth is weak, or if rain does not
come, decay, rot and mold may occur. If yang responds well seed break open
underground.
"Yang is ‘jump
started’ in this qi node, but there may still be very few signs. Yang has
survived another winter. Though Spring Festival is over, fresh offerings are
made at ancestor and Earth altars to support Yang. This is the gan ying
principle. Yin is weak and yang is still unformed, effort or exertion must be
avoided.
"During this qi
node qi is best at 4am. One should practice neigong just before dawn facing the
sun as it rises in the northeast. Do not exert yourself, but let the yang and
yin play - this renews us and gives us longevity. When the sun is up walk about
the courtyard with arms akimbo. Loosen up. The environment is becoming very
‘friendly’ and ‘yangish’ - it is no longer pernicious, but it is our own
impulsiveness (inner yang) that is dangerous. Impulse is the renewal but
caution, rather than enthusiasm, makes it work.
"Yang is also
beginning to move on its own. Mild and inspired, new actions are auspicious and
rewarding. Avoid being ‘very productive’. Cultivate the qi of spring by reading
new fiction, watching the latest film, go for short walks outdoors and enjoying
and/or playing music."

LUNAR HEXAGRAM: 42 Yi: Increase
“Yi is about
the natural progress of things when it is enhanced by the best of conditions.
Sun and water and good soil help the tree grow strong; yet a tree is also
subordinate to the warmth, the rain and the soil. The tree also naturally
"knows” what to take and leave. Yi is the “knowledge” of
nature.”

sincere and disciplined, ideal for today's auspices. Be focused, generous
and gracious, there is much available to transition today.
"It is auspicious
to build, remodel and make fengshui adjustments (increase
opportunities/wealth [public part of home]). It is auspicious to initiate
business, sign contracts and get married (strengthen family ties). It is
auspicious for investments, banking (gardening [increase fertility]) and study
(the classics). It is an especially good day to exercise (martial arts),
socialize (create parties, feasts and celebrations). It is also advantageous to
travel, start a journey or vacation. NOT complying with the auspice of this
indicator may lead to madness and suicide.
"Contraindicated
activity: It is inauspicious to withdraw, begin an austerity or retreat."

Allies appear from all quarters. True majesty succeeds without pressing

Again, today's organized,
industrious and frank character may be very well suited to the rest of the
auspices...cancellation may be in order where fortification can be served.
“The spontaneous use of
force may work in some situations, but injury and difficulties surround the
misuse of force. Being rambunctious leads to costly mishap, injury and failure,
but also survival. The auspices are mixed.”

"It is auspicious
to build, remodel or repair property (line clothing for winter) - in the sense
to fortify or strengthen. It is auspicious to transact routine business,
banking (anything that parallels the storing for winter), to plan but not speculate.
It is beneficial to receive medical treatments (qi in channels) It is favorable
to make amulets.
"It is inauspicious
to travel, argue or press lawsuits. It is not advised to dig the ground or bury
the dead."

“What is unformed has
great potential but is also lacks clarity - so success, even progress, is
difficult. It is unfavorable for those who are anxious and impulsive. People of
limited capacity may miscalculate their ability to make use of an opportunity.
Read the advice patiently and do not consult the Zhouyi again on this
matter. Meng is often divined when you are obsessed and anxious about
something."

"It is time to
build (thresholds, public buildings) and add on (growth of family: new baby,
new bride) to property. It is auspicious to initiate and continue routine
business. It is a day for feasting, gatherings and romance. Marriages
contracted/performed today produce resourceful and wealthy children. It is an
excellent day for assemblies, parties and celebrations.
“This day brings fresh
breezes in Spring, cooling mist in Summer, light rain in Fall and thin ice in
Winter. It is inauspicious to enter retreat, practice renunciation or travel
alone. Avoid confrontation."

“To roust hypocrisy in
his new alliances the leader must bait his hidden enemies (yin) by showing
vulnerability. This day is a qi expression of true power but all the action is
fraught with danger and risk. The games of political power are also the
precursors of decline. The power plays show yin to be drawing life from the
heart of yang. Success is limited now to a kind of survival. Manipulation and
covert action succeed. Elegance becomes the mask of cleverness and intrigue.
Doing only what needs to be done is best. Old habits or patterns of pressing
forward will invite catastrophe. Beware grudges.”

Be light hearted, modest, funny and independent. Go with the flow AND take advantage of the
moment that presents...
“Guai tells us
when impulsiveness, abruptness and breaking with standard protocol are okay.
Success, in the case of Guai, is a timely, but abrupt, escape. Sometimes
it is best to immediately quit a situation and/or abandon a relationship
because of its excessive restrictions. Guai carries the ambiguous
message that misconduct is sometimes appropriate.”

to build, bury the dead (increase status/rank) and marry (your children will
hobnob with kings) on this day. It is a good day to make your case, to push
forward and to ask for what you are due (collecting receivables). It is a good

activity: It is inauspicious to be confrontational, break the law or squander
resources (gamble); such activities will bring years of loss and regret.”

“It is a day for resting
on your laurels. Success is established and secured and the new state seems to
govern itself. Enemies are few. It is a time for inward reflection (yin) on the
bare face of reality (yang). Struggle (yang) is no longer possible or necessary
(yin). Decline is not feared and success not celebrated. Wisdom approaches and
withdrawing succeeds. Art is the demonstration of confidence, dignity and
wisdom - be artful. No more accumulating - decorate with modesty. The way of
perfecting power is austerity and restraint. Do less, have less, show less and
seek nothing. Enjoy what is already manifest.”
