INDICATORS

YEAR of the FIRE MONKEY 4714
(Native Yang Metal) Imaginative/Clever/Playful
"Charged: curious, capable, funny, adaptable, intelligent, resourceful, innovative, playful, imaginative, responsive and heals fast.

Deplete: manipulative, deceptive, unfocused, cunning, erratic, crafty, frantic, nervous, compulsive, anxious and possibly criminal.

Image: The Monkey talked about in Chinese Astrology is well known to the Chinese peasant as a god. The Tibetan and Zhou people both have fables of a Monkey ancestor. The most famous Monkey in China is the wily Monkey who aids a monk in bringing the Buddhist sutras from India. All the images portray the Monkey as godlike but with the weaknesses commonly associated with humans (desire). This is the perilous balancing act that gives us an understanding of the Monkey character. Poised between the profound and the mundane, Monkeys are capable of a broad awareness of their environment. Nothing is left to convention. For Monkeys the greatest danger is selfish fantasy, the evil sister of visionary wisdom. Monkeys fluctuate between materialism and austerity. Material possessions must not block a Monkey’s need for flexibility.

Fire Monkey (1836, 1896, 1956, 2016, 2076) ‘Mountain Monkey’
Fire Monkey’s are organized, industrious and frank characters. They have strong sexual energy and work on their appearance. They are late to settle down. Their fortunes are good (though their motivation may be inspired by escaping hardship) and they are successful in business. They are particularly capable of avoiding negativity, but they will unfortunately need this skill. Though vigorous they are susceptible to wind disorders and may have coronary problems."

LUNAR MONTH: YANG FIRE DOG ‘Guard Dog’
Fire Dogs are patient, persevering and kind-hearted. Strong (even aggressive) at standing up for others, they forget to speak for themselves. Their strength isolates them. They are poor planners but excellent and dedicated problem solvers. The problems they solve are often of their own making. They may lose a home or business to fire. They do not enjoy good health due to inherited liver and heat disorders. Their fortunes are shaped by the vague and unresolved longings of their dead ancestors (which must be resolved).

QI NODE: 16 Autumn Equinox
Yin Descends
"When the qi node Autumn Equinox arrives annual Yin qi is established. Day and night are equal. During this period the environment grows ever more yin and is characterized by a cool, dry wind (metal element). It is one of four annual pivots that rectify the annual qi. Yin and yang are equal - day and night are equal. Storehouses are filling up and the work of harvest is nearly complete. There is a pleasant stillness.
"During this qi node qi is best at 6pm. Neigong should be done indoors morning and evening in short sessions. When yin/yang equality is reached and yin is about to take charge, it is best to eat food that has a higher jing/qi concentration. Breakfast can be eaten a little bit later than in spring/summer but is should be hearty. Do not eat at all after 7pm. All meals should be experienced in a quiet and undistracted setting. You needn't be a hermit, but avoid being social at every meal."
LM The Way of the Three Treasures

LUNAR HEXAGRAM 26 Da Chu: Great Store
“Though, with an uneven start, Da Chu is a time of great success. Routine work brings about unexpected results. At the highest level of success is an opportunity to be extraordinarily generous."
LM Changing: Zhouyi

"Think powerful, but gentle succeeds...It is auspicious for building and routine work. Good auspice is directly related to continuity, convention and not innovation. It is not auspicious for funerals/burials or marriages. It is a dangerous day for travel and / or medical treatments."
LM Notes: The Birdstar

"Though moving forward is immanent there is a shedding of skin on this day that puts a pause in forward progress."

TUESDAY September 27, Yang Water Rat 27
Hexagram 37 Jia Ren: Household
Lunar Mansion: The Wings / Serpent
Solar Indicator: Level

"Good auspice relies heavily on inclusiveness, following custom, social convention and guileless loyalty. Good fortune comes through the natural 'chain of command'. Misfortune is directly related to breaking taboos, ignoring family, conventions and/or defaulting on commitments of any kind. Lie still, move slowly and methodically and the snake won't strike."

QI NODE: 15 White Dew
Yin Descends
"White Dew qi node shows the shifting relationship between collapsing yang and ascendant yin. When yin 'descends' it is actually taking charge - yin style.
In the morning white dew is the harbinger of change. The clouds are high in the sky. The growing west wind is cool. Dew is fresh yin qi - a fragile, glimpse of snow. The growing yin almost goes unnoticed. As the last of the summer qi subsides, a cool west wind (qi) appears and the season of autumn begins and develops. Geese migrate south and fall harvest continues in earnest.
White Dew is a time of clarity and stillness. During this period the environment grows ever more yuin and is characterized by a cool, dry wind (metal element). During this qi node the environmental qi is best at 5pm. Neigong should be done indoors. Do not eat at all after 7pm.
In the imagination of the poets and hermits of China it is a time of year when white nymphs are offering inspiration. Unlike their superiors, the Jade Lads and Ladies, these nymphs inhabit the sea and forest, not the Celestial realms. White dew, a rare or first form of frost of the year, is the signal of their presence. They show us white dew to remind us to prepare for the arrival of the Celestials (yin). LM The Way of the Three Treasures

“Though, with an uneven start, Da Chu is a time of great success. Routine work brings about unexpected results. At the highest level of success is an opportunity to be extraordinarily generous."

WEDNESDAY September 21, Yang Fire Horse 21
Hexagram 21 Shihe Biting
Lunar Mansion: The Trio / Gibbon
Solar Indicator: Harvest

Retreat and reload. The force available today can be harsh, abrasive and abrupt. In some situations this is appropriate: divorce, quitting a job, moving home...Alternatively, opt to channel this force into routine work, study, editing (haircuts), and house cleaning.

"Cleverness and survival give way to courage and directness."
LM Notes: Harvest

THURSDAY September 22, Yin Fire Goat 22
Hexagram 17 Sui Pursuit
Lunar Mansion: The Well / Tapir
Solar Indicator: Open

Though a moodiness may be present, divination will offer insight.

"It is auspicious to build, remodel, do fengshui adjustments, take exams, and maintain routine industry. The earth can be dug and it is a good day to donate, buy or sell (investment) real estate. Community or charity projects will flourish. It is favorable for apologies. It is favorable for medical treatments (particularly for initiating a series of treatments for a chronic condition). Contraindicated activity: It is not auspicious to postpone needed repairs, apologies or difficult tasks."
LM Notes: The Well

"An open heart gives the option to acquire great wisdom."
LM Notes: Open

FRIDAY September 23, Yang Earth Monkey 23
Hexagram 25 Wu Wang: No Expectations
Lunar Mansion: The Ghost / Sheep
Solar Indicator: Shut

Relax and go with the flow. Perseverance is a strong suit of the day, and mostly advantageous for spiritual matters, burials, offerings, fasting and retreat.

"...don't worry, it's not the end of anything! Let go anyway - feel the freedom, inaction, disconnectedness, becuase it offers limitless insight."
LM Notes: Shut
