INDICATORS

YEAR of the FIRE MONKEY 4714
(Native Yang Metal) Imaginative/Clever/Playful
"Charged: curious, capable, funny, adaptable, intelligent, resourceful, innovative, playful, imaginative, responsive and heals fast.

Deplete: manipulative, deceptive, unfocused, cunning, erratic, crafty, frantic, nervous, compulsive, anxious and possibly criminal.

Image: The Monkey talked about in Chinese Astrology is well known to the Chinese peasant as a god. The Tibetan and Zhou people both have fables of a Monkey ancestor. The most famous Monkey in China is the wily Monkey who aids a monk in bringing the Buddhist sutras from India. All the images portray the Monkey as godlike but with the weaknesses commonly associated with humans (desire). This is the perilous balancing act that gives us an understanding of the Monkey character. Poised between the profound and the mundane, Monkeys are capable of a broad awareness of their environment. Nothing is left to convention. For Monkeys the greatest danger is selfish fantasy, the evil sister of visionary wisdom. Monkeys fluctuate between materialism and austerity. Material possessions must not block a Monkey’s need for flexibility.

Fire Monkey (1836, 1896, 1956, 2016, 2076) ‘Mountain Monkey’
Fire Monkey’s are organized, industrious and frank characters. They have strong sexual energy and work on their appearance. They are late to settle down. Their fortunes are good (though their motivation may be inspired by escaping hardship) and they are successful in business. They are particularly capable of avoiding negativity, but they will unfortunately need this skill. Though vigorous they are susceptible to wind disorders and may have coronary problems."

LUNAR MONTH: YANG WATER DRAGON 3
"Water Dragons are hardworking, restless and taciturn characters. Despite their efforts, they do not find a home, friends or family easily. Their patience and humor protect them from disaster. They are distinguished but not haughty. Their idealism, turned on themselves, will inhibit them and makes their fortune uneven. They will, however, spend their twilight years in comfort. Despite a strong constitution they are prone to nervous disorders and suffer a constant stream of minor chronic ailments." LM Notes

QI NODE: 6 Grain Rains
Yin and Yang Courtship
"Spring ends with the inter-seasonal qi node Grain Rains. This qi node is the transition from spring to summer. It charges the growth process with increased warmth (Yang) and Rain (Yin). The growing and transforming process is now seen everywhere in Nature. The power of growth hits the ground and spreads. Flowers bloom in orchards. Buds, the true outcome of spring, appear everywhere with the promise of abundance. The mantle of power is given to the princely forms of Yang. It is auspicious if thunder (sound of spring) is heard in this qi node to welcome the power of summer - just as it is auspicious that the quiet of autumn ends in the utter silence of winter.

"It is a time of final preparations, even ceremonious preparations. It is a good time to thank the wise mentors who have helped to shape your life. It is a good time to graduate from school or move on to higher education. New and better job (promotions), new and better address (moving house) and the chance to reinvent yourself is present themselves. It is a time to enjoy music, play music and dance. If your cultivation of spring was insufficient or negligent you will be held back with Damp (criticism, lethargy, allergies and indigestion)."
LM The Way of Three Treasures

LUNAR HEXAGRAM 18 Gu: Contamination
“In the Zhou world, children were ultimately responsible for the conduct (errors and debts) of their parents (ancestors). Gu indicates that life is a continuous flow, not just an individual personal experience. Success is not simply a matter of personal control. Unseen environmental forces do affect us.” LM Changing: Zhouyi

FRIDAY April 29, Yin Metal Snake 23
Hexagram 57 Xun: Compliance
Lunar Mansion: The Mound/Dog
Solar Indicator: Divide

Today's hexagram comment offers a tone for the day:

"The Zhouyi does not suggest that compliance is universally required, like a covenant that requires the constant submission to the will of a god. In fact, the mysterious way of Heaven (ancestors) is often negotiable, cooperative, and even bribable at times. But when Xun is divined the message is simply to comply, not negotiate."
LM Zhouyi: 57 Xun

Step through the day with an open heart. Engage AND be ready for pause at any moment. Alliance, honoring your ancestors and generally going with the flow today provides dividends tomorrow.

SATURDAY April 30, Yang Water Horse 24
Hexagram 48 Jing: The Well
Lunar Mansion: The Stomach / Pheasant
Solar Indicator: Full

Spend time on projects today; digest the fullness of life through your movements.

"This is an option day for education, preparation, polishing, gathering resources and firming up plans. Confidence grows as the right time and necessary resources are part of the vision. The qi is forming patterns and remaining in the channels. Practice and disciplined cultivation bring confidence...True confidence requires no aggression."
LM Notes: Full

SUNDAY May 1, Yin Water Goat 25
Hexagram 18 Gu: Contamination
Lunar Mansion: The Watchers/Cock
Solar Indicator: Level

Take a load off and unplug with some friends, close to home. Postponement, study, retreat and honoring one's ancestors are all auspicious. Dissolve rather than build. Medical treatments and confrontation and ill advised.

LUNAR MONTH: YIN METAL RABBIT
"Metal Rabbits are intelligent, quiet and humble characters. They are social, quick-witted and generous to those in need. They thrive in intimacy with a select inner-circle, but are otherwise aloof. Though their own fortune is modest, they enjoy the company of social and religious leaders. They enjoy spiritual practices and study, but struggle with their application. They do not have strong constitutions and are susceptible to cold illness with pain symptoms. They die from accidental injuries.LM Notes

LUNAR HEXAGRAM 17 Sui: Pursuit
Sui is a ritual form of tracking and hunting (pursuit) use for divination. Auspices were determined by the species, age, health and markings of the bagged game animal. The divinatory quality of the hunt has long been central to the human relationship to nature. It is a form of communication with the unseen.” LM Changing: Zhouyi

Lunar Mansion: The Trio/Gibbon

"In the service of a great common good, opponents surrender and are ultimately included. When a leader can inspire or reveal the natural common spirit of community, anything can be accomplished."

You should use divination to determine the specific auspice of the day...It bodes well to dispose of inessentials (haircuts), edit, fast, study close to home (house clean). Initiating business will be fruitful if planning has been thorough. It is inauspicious to push forward aggressively."
LM Notes: The Trio
