Chinese Almanac Astrology June 25 - 28, 2015

Hi Hi

Welcome to this summer,
Rest well and chew thoroughly.

Be gentle with each other
and experience humanity.

Year: Wood Goat 4713
Lunar Month: Water Horse 5
Lunar Hexagram 14: Da You: Prosperity
Qi Node: 9 Summer Solstice

The Wood Goat, a little girl kid, lends a soft grounded context for us this year; Still very new, maturing quickly and playfully, sincere and disciplined. Herd up, slough off what no longer serves your appetite, compost and go fresh.

"Water Horses are independent, hard-working and thrifty characters. They are particularly gifted craftspeople and have a friendly demeanor. They easily offer themselves to protect and ‘save’ others (military). They are not adverse to intentional ‘tragedy’ (heroism). Their fortunes are likely to improve as they grow old. The most emotional of all Horses they tend to compromise their health with repressed feelings. Their livers are weak and they are susceptible to curses and spells.
LM Notes

The fifth moon is when yang is "full-on". Though it is the very nature of growth, yang has a dark side, related to aberration and calamity. It is almost as if Life an Death are at odds with each other right now. What does not grow to fullness will very quickly wither or rot. Fire is a wonder but it is also a danger. When fire touches Earth without the response of Heaven's rain, calamity and famine may occur. Human being must appropriately participate (gan yin) in Heaven and Earth's affairs to bring about their natural abundance. The educational process (precautions) of spring is now certainly tested. The sincerity and precision (musical tone) of ritual must be impeccable. The chain of command must be reliable and unquestioned (see Zhouyi hexagram 7).

Many of the images regarding the 5th moon relate to the exorcism of, or cure for, excessive yang. Red amulets against the damaging heat (represented by greedy, ruthless, blood-drinking demons) are offered at all temples to protect parishioners from the excesses of yang. Excesses controlled, the 5th moon is very rich. If good choices and sound management get us here, the rewards are extraordinary. Abundance is the response.
It is a good month to sit back and watch things grow of themselves and do only what is in concert with growth and community." Da Yuan Circle
Qi Node: 9 Summer Solstice
During this qi node, travel, relax, rest and exercise modestly, sweat is ok. It is the height of summer when days are at their longest and the nights, their shortest. Be mindful to avoid the sun at midday. Nap after lunch and chew well. "Guard the heart (shen) from strain by expressing your feelings, singing, dancing and socializing. Before bed bucket bathe with a final cold rinse. Go to sleep just after dark." LM The Way of the Three Treasures

Lunar Hexagram 14: Da You: Prosperity
"It is the image of the bright and pervasive summer sun bringing everything to maximum growth. In financial matters it is specifically about appropriate generosity, fiscal responsibility and successful asset management." LM Zhouyi

THURSDAY June 25, Water Monkey 10
29 Kan: The Pit - The Stride -
The image for today is fortification, surrendering to the situation and making the best use of routine action. It is auspicious to shore up for winter so to speak, building, remodels, or repairing property, medical treatments and banking are all favorable. "It is about bad situations that are made worse by overreacting. Sometimes life makes us 'eat bitter'/ The advice here is to chew well." LM Notes Bad for travel and making your case. Eat simple and nourishing meals today.

FRIDAY June 26, Water Rooster 11
59 Huan: Scattering - The Mound -
The tides of change within our lives are not only a result of our own personal actions. Big changes are often unexpected and overwhelming. They "may purge us of bring losses (sacrifice), but it also brings gifts - new and renewed resources. If we are relaxed, we float and, in the end, are left of high, dry and fertile ground." LM Zhouyi Good for joint efforts, building, new family members, assemblies, feasting and celebrations. Avoid confrontation, renunciation and entering retreat.

SATURDAY June 27, Wood Dog 12
Consult the Oracle - The Stomach -
There are mixed auspices for the day. "1) Delighting or celebrating the storing of necessities (even luxuries [ harvest] ), and 2) the need to store to survive (inevitable arrival of winter). The day is about receiving rewards and giving surplus to the poor (deserving)." LM Notes Continue good practices for the heat of summer and consult the oracle for further advice on the day. It is also a good day for asking for what is due to you and charity. It is auspicious to build, bury the dead and marry. Avoid breaking the law, confrontations and squandering resources. "Such activities will bring years of loss and regret." LM Notes

Lunar Hexagram 31 Xian: All Embracing
"In all situations where slow-growing, inspired feelings are found, things go well. You may act confidently as inspiration takes shape and develops to fruition." LM Zhouyi

SUNDAY June 28, Wood Pig 13
40 Xie: Let Loose - The Watchers -
There is a release happening today, gracefully, if you let it. Like autumn, before winter, it is letting go that opens up the possibility of survival. Postpone everything possible, especially medical treatments, marriages and burials. Comply with omens and divination and generally let the day open up by itself. Eat simply and practice neutrality, allow your experience to create its own formula for equilibrium.

May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.
