The Wood Goat, a little girl kid, lends a soft grounded context for us this year; Still very new, maturing quickly and playfully, sincere and disciplined. Herd up, slough off what no longer serves your appetite, compost and go fresh.

"Water Horses are independent, hard-working and thrifty characters. They are particularly gifted craftspeople and have a friendly demeanor. They easily offer themselves to protect and ‘save’ others (military). They are not adverse to intentional ‘tragedy’ (heroism). Their fortunes are likely to improve as they grow old. The most emotional of all Horses they tend to compromise their health with repressed feelings. Their livers are weak and they are susceptible to curses and spells."

The fifth moon is when yang is "full-on". Though it is the very nature of growth, yang has a dark side, related to aberration and calamity. It is almost as if Life an Death are at odds with each other right now. What does not grow to fullness will very quickly wither or rot. Fire is a wonder but it is also a danger. When fire touches Earth without the response of Heaven's rain, calamity and famine may occur. Human being must appropriately participate (gan yin) in Heaven and Earth's affairs to bring about their natural abundance. The educational process (precautions) of spring is now certainly tested. The sincerity and precision (musical tone) of ritual must be impeccable. The chain of command must be reliable and unquestioned (see Zhouyi hexagram 7).

Many of the images regarding the 5th moon relate to the exorcism of, or cure for, excessive yang. Red amulets against the damaging heat (represented by greedy, ruthless, blood-drinking demons) are offered at all temples to protect parishioners from the excesses of yang. Excesses controlled, the 5th moon is very rich. If good choices and sound management get us here, the rewards are extraordinary. Abundance is the response.

Qi Node: 10 Little Heat
In Slight or Small Heat qi node Yang begins its inevitable decline but growth is extended. The weather turns mild. Fruits and vegetables are abundant. Cicadas and crickets choruses are heard day and night. Twilight is beautiful. Barns bulge with the abundance. The Prince ascends the throne (yang matures) and becomes King. What will Yang's legacy be? Is it survival at any cost (brutishness) or the fullness of true and elegant majesty (wisdom)?

Lunar Hexagram 37 Jia Ren: Household
"Jia Ren is about well-ordered, supportive families and family-like groups that have a collective purpose. Selfless caregivers (mothers/nourishment) make households and family-like groups strong. Selfless and consistent inner strength is the basis of true communities. Orderly family/communities nurture great great leaders who, in turn, make the alliances that create fair and just nation-states."

3 Zhun: Sprouting - The Heart, Danger -
Keep moving today, and try and curb an appetite for contention. It is not about pressing forward, it is the delicate and unpretentious view that allows a sprout to grow. Uncovering what has been lost is possible, while fresh thinking and elegance offer success. "It is auspicious to comply with superiors, make offerings to ancestors, move home and/or immigrate...If you start a lawsuit (making your case) you will lose everything (imprisonment). If you construct a building, get married or bury the daed, disaster follows. Everything sold today will be at a loss to the seller. Quite a lovely combination of indicators. A time for generosity, wealth is abundant (air to breathe), support is in place and wisdom is found in modest celebration. Consult the Oracle - The Basket, Harvest -
Despite a caution against gossip and rumors ("...slanderous accusations of sexual promiscuity" LM Notes: Lunar) that is possible, the day generally offers a sweet smoothness. "Yin overcomes Yang. What makes this day smooth is a sense of fearlessness. It is not so much how it goes (yang) as what it shows (yin). Rise and fall are no longer the point - the wide view can be taken. Ease is possible - effortless continuity on all sides. The qi seems to float us forward quite naturally - ebbing and flowing are both acceptable. The lessons of earthly life are found in both maturing and declining. Everything succeeds. Cleverness and survival give way to courage and directness. Be like a beloved monarch to an ambitious merchant. Let new resources and assistants come forward by standing back."

"Water Goat Water Goats are talkative, sentimental and persevering characters. Their emotional attachments to people and things cloud their wisdom. Their consideration of others undermines their success. Egalitarian idealists they work very hard ‘against all odds.’ Their generosity is unfailing. Rarely thanked for their work they nevertheless are strong helpers. They are often robbed or make poor judgements in financial matters and their fortune does not smooth out until old age (60+). Though rarely ill their illness tends to be complex and hard to diagnose and/or treat."
