In honor of winter
YEAR: WOOD GOAT 4713
In honor of Liu Ming and his lineage
In honor of winter
YEAR: WOOD GOAT 4713
The Wood Goat, a little girl kid, lends a soft grounded context for us this year; Still very new, maturing quickly and playfully, sincere and disciplined. Herd up, slough off what no longer serves your appetite, compost and go fresh.
LUNAR MONTH: FIRE PIG 10
"Fire Pigs are resolute, talented and aggressive characters. They are precocious and tend to marry/partner young or not at all. Having rare an unusual skills they are supported by people of power and influence. They are devout followers and absorb knowledge/power from others. Uniqueness and excessive strength isolate them. Their fortunes improve with age (60+) and/or when they learn to let go. Though they are particularly susceptible to 'hot' disease, they respond well to treatment and have long lives." LM Notes
QI NODE: 20 Little Snow
Yin Expands
“In the Little Snow qi node the continued growth of the cold/yin continues and our adaptation to Big Yin should have set in. The first snow seems beautiful like a young princess. The wisdom of the Past (ancestors) is proven true. The pattern of withdrawal seems just and truthful. Yin is now well established.
“Now it is easy to feel winter has begun. As winter grows cold and the maturation of the annual yin qi develops the cold and damp unite to create snow. Days get shorter - the dark grows quickly. The ground hardens and may freeze, insects disappear and rainbows no longer appear. The qi is best at 10pm. During this period the environment grows ever more yin and yang inhibition grows stronger. Every being/thing must rest. A trip south (winter vacation) is recommended for those with insufficient yang. We must guard our inner yang as it recedes from the environment. Cancel your activities in preparation for retreat. Earphones and iPod should replace public concerts. Check your insulation! Catch up on classic movies.”

LUNAR HEXAGRAM: 63 Jiji: Already Across
"Jiji is about the continuity of change and questions the notion that it is possible to be truly finished or complete. When we start out, the goal is to cross a river, when we get to the other side of the river we realize that there is still more to do. The obvious end of efforts and the accomplishment of a goal, are, more often than not, the beginning of what must be done next."
SUNDAY December 6, Yang Fire Dragon 25
Hexagram Consult the Oracle
Lunar Mansion: The Void/Rat
"It is auspicious to stay home, strengthen family ties and protect your children. Sleep and rest are recommended (be cautioned by your dreams).
"On this day it is not auspicious to marry, bury the dead or make offerings to ancestors. Extra-marital affairs begun on this day will eventually ruin your family, reputation and health. Medical treatments today can cause injury and expose constitutional weakness."
LM Notes: The Void
Consult the oracle for details. Find a cozy corner as winter takes a deep dive.
QI NODE: 21 Great Snow
Yin Matures
“The Great Snow qi node is a time of visions and magic. Our inner yang sees images in the Great Yin. Things are not as they appear. Yin extends its influence into our dreams. During this qi node qi is best at 11pm (when you are asleep). Practice neigong in the morning and evening. Remembered or forgotten dreams appear in this qi node that portend the coming year. The darkening of the light means shorter days, no rainbows and abundant snow. Stillness may lead to stagnation. All activity slows down, many things seem to stop or die. Every bring/thing must rest. A trip south (winter vacation) is recommended for those with insufficient yang.”

MONDAY December 7, Yin Fire Snake 26
Hexagram 57 Xun: Compliance
Lunar Mansion: The Roof/Swallow
Solar Indicator: Maintain
"Xun describes the good fortune found through compliance with the wisdom gained from proper divination (counsel). Calculation (divinatory technique) and compliance to the outcome, is in this case, the road to success. When we absorb and comply with the spiritual wisdom (wind) found in divination (the voice of the ancestors) success is easy."
LM Changing: Zhouyi
"The key to the auspices has to do with how you act in a dangerous situation... It is auspicious to stay home, repair walls (security), remodel, take tonics and comply with superiors. It is favorable for medical treatments, exercise and eating well. It is favorable to raise roof beams and rafters (begin new construction). It is auspicious for family gatherings at home. Alliances and collaboraitons come to fruit as good 'luck'. This day is inauspicious for travel because you will be robbed (road) or drowned (sea). Strangers and strange (foreign) places offer calamity."
LM Notes: The Roof
TUESDAY December 8, Yang Earth Horse 27
Hexagram 48 Jing: The Well
Lunar Mansion: The House/Pig
Solar Indicator: Destroy
"Jing is about the natural reciprocity in the human relationship to nature. The Zhouyi says that the unevenness of nature (well) mirrors the unevenness of our conduct. If we act inappropriately we ruin our resources (dry well). In the Zhouyi nature is not an almighty god that stands in judgement of us, meting out punishment for our wrongs. Nature is a dialog."
LM Changing: Zhouyi
The auspices point to reciprocity. Action, generosity and purification are all appropriate today. Reread the notes on this Qi Node, 21 Great Snow.
