CHINESE ALMANAC ASTROLOGY
In honor of Liu Ming and his lineage
In honor of winter
YEAR: WOOD GOAT 4713
In honor of Liu Ming and his lineage
In honor of winter
YEAR: WOOD GOAT 4713
The Wood Goat, a little girl kid, lends a soft grounded context for us this year; Still very new, maturing quickly and playfully, sincere and disciplined. Herd up, slough off what no longer serves your appetite, compost and go fresh.
LUNAR MONTH: EARTH RAT 11
"Earth Rats are clever and thrifty characters. Their good fortunes come from their persevering labor and conventionality. They are frugal in their use of money and energy. Fear takes the shape of self-consciousness. They are more likely to be injured (scarred by tools or weapons) than ill, and prone to liver and wind disorders. They marry well and must be attentive parents to their young children, as illness and conduct problems will occur. They leave legacies." LM Notes

QI NODE: 22 Winter Solstice
Yin Rules
“The Winter Solstice qi node has the shortest day and the longest night of the year. It is one of four annual pivots that rectify the annual qi. During this qi node qi is at its height at midnight! At the end of this qi node, the new calendar year begins. In the Chinese official calendar it is the mid-point of winter. The astrological year is still months away.
Yin peaks but in this same qi node it begins its inevitable decline - supreme yin gives birth to the flux of yang. Tigers mate. Christmas lights twinkle. Birth and death commingle, but life is cold and apparently dead now begins to move toward life.
Everywhere in Chinese cosmology black (dark) produces ‘yellow’ or light of the sun. ‘The darkest hour is just before dawn’.”

LUNAR HEXAGRAM: 27 Yi: Jaws
"In the Zhouyi there is no moralizing about ambition and greed, accept to say, that selfishness is never the true story of success. The Zhouyi sees all great accomplishment as a group effort. It is important to be discreet and appropriate when expressing personal ambition so that others join in and the fruits of your efforts may be enjoyed. Can you get over what you want and find our what you need?"LM Changing: Zhouyi

SATURDAY January 2, 2016, Yin Water Goat 23
Hexagram: Consult the Oracle
Lunar Mansion: The Maiden/Bat

Keep it gentle today. Avoid risky situations, guard your health, and consult the oracle for more specific advice. Let the generosity and community-mindedness of the Water Goat offer direction for the day. Enjoy the arts, your friends and leisure time.
SUNDAY January 3, Yang Wood Monkey 24
Hexagram 20 Guan: ObservanceLunar Mansion: The Void/Rat
Solar Indicator: Complete
"The way of perfecting power is austerity and restraint. Do less, have less, show less and seek nothing. Enjoy what is already manifest." LM Notes: Complete
Use the observational skills of a monkey day to gain the big picture view. Observe where you are holding on to something, let go, simplify and digest that part of life. The choice of what you work on digesting may not be your own today, so be adaptable.
LUNAR HEXAGRAM: 39 Jian: Stumbling
"Good fortune comes to the halting and inept because they have the simple, good sense to wait or withdraw. From time to time good fortune comes despite our incompetence. When Jian is divined success is a gift of fate (friends). Since success, in this case, is far in excess of what you might reasonable expect, complete the process by sharing the rewards with others."LM Changing: Zhouyi
