INDICATORS

YEAR of the FIRE MONKEY 4714
(Native Yang Metal) Imaginative/Clever/Playful
"Charged: curious, capable, funny, adaptable, intelligent, resourceful, innovative, playful, imaginative, responsive and heals fast.

Deplete: manipulative, deceptive, unfocused, cunning, erratic, crafty, frantic, nervous, compulsive, anxious and possibly criminal.

Image: The Monkey talked about in Chinese Astrology is well known to the Chinese peasant as a god. The Tibetan and Zhou people both have fables of a Monkey ancestor. The most famous Monkey in China is the wily Monkey who aids a monk in bringing the Buddhist sutras from India. All the images portray the Monkey as godlike but with the weaknesses commonly associated with humans (desire). This is the perilous balancing act that gives us an understanding of the Monkey character. Poised between the profound and the mundane, Monkeys are capable of a broad awareness of their environment. Nothing is left to convention. For Monkeys the greatest danger is selfish fantasy, the evil sister of visionary wisdom. Monkeys fluctuate between materialism and austerity. Material possessions must not block a Monkey’s need for flexibility.

Fire Monkey (1836, 1896, 1956, 2016, 2076) ‘Mountain Monkey’
Fire Monkey’s are organized, industrious and frank characters. They have strong sexual energy and work on their appearance. They are late to settle down. Their fortunes are good (though their motivation may be inspired by escaping hardship) and they are successful in business. They are particularly capable of avoiding negativity, but they will unfortunately need this skill. Though vigorous they are susceptible to wind disorders and may have coronary problems."

LUNAR MONTH: YIN METAL RAT ‘Rafter Rat’
Metal rats are sensitive, meticulous and resourceful. They easily win the attention and support of others and love to compete and win. Their ambition is modified by a strong personal sense of moral and spiritual values. They enjoy independence and are ruthlessly calculating in matters of the heart and finance. Though not without enemies, they experience relatively even fortunes. Jovial in appearance they internally brood and worry over the slightest things. They are susceptible to contagious and common illnesses but live long because of treatments from expert physicians and meticulous personal habits.

QI NODE: 20 Little Snow
Yin Expands
“In the Little Snow qi node the continued growth of the cold/yin continues and our adaptation to Big Yin should have set in. The first snow seems beautiful like a young princess. The wisdom of the Past (ancestors) is proven true. The pattern of withdrawal seems just and truthful. Yin is now well established.

“Now it is easy to feel winter has begun. As winter grows cold and the maturation of the annual yin qi develops the cold and damp unite to create snow. Days get shorter - the dark grows quickly. The ground hardens and may freeze, insects disappear and rainbows no longer appear. The qi is best at 10pm. During this period the environment grows ever more yin and yang inhibition grows stronger. Every being/thing must rest. A trip south (winter vacation) is recommended for those with insufficient yang. We must guard our inner yang as it recedes from the environment. Cancel your activities in preparation for retreat. Earphones and iPod should replace public concerts. Check your insulation! Catch up on classic movies.”

LUNAR HEXAGRAM 24 Fu: Return
Fu is about the cycles of time and the inevitable return of all things to their origin. Every move forward contains a move backward (to and fro). Fu is the promise that in retracing our steps we will be brought home."

THURSDAY December 1, Yin Fire Snake 3
Hexagram 51 Zhen: Thunder
Lunar Mansion: The Ladle / Griffon
Solar Indicator: Destroy

Mind your manners and move with the tide. Staying calm bares fruit.

"It is a most auspicious day for Daoist religious rites, initiations and transmission of (esoteric) teachings. It is an auspicious day to start up a business and build a new building (home, temple). It is a safe day to dig foundations (wells, trenches) and get married. New opportunities (news) abound - taking exams and routine work bring great success/reward on this day. It is an auspicious day to bury the dead - they will rest peacefully and benefit the surviving relatives.”

Prepare for the weekend and withdraw.

FRIDAY December 2, Yang Earth Horse 4
Hexagram 21 Shihe: Biting
Lunar Mansion: The Oxboy / Ox
Solar Indicator: Danger

Consult the oracle for specifics, and take the day off, meditate and do only what needs to be done.

“It is auspicious to stay home, guard resources, meditate and focus. It is auspicious to initiate austerity, enter retreat, recover and economize.”
LM Notes: The Oxboy

"Good leaders know that is is their own miscalculations and poor management that lead to the need for a strong use of force (war). When we resort to harsh punishments we must do so cautiously - even humbly."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 21 Shihe

SATURDAY December 3, Yin Earth Goat 5
Hexagram 17 Sui: Pursuit

.....kindness.

FRIDAY December 9, Yin Wood Ox 11
Hexagram Consult the Oracle
Lunar Mansion: The Mound / Dog
Solar Indicator: Divide

Consult the oracle and lean toward the conventional, and find moments and strength in pausing.

"It is time to build (thresholds, public buildings) and add on (growth of family: new baby, new bride) to property. It is auspicious to initiate and continue routine business. It is a day for feasting, gatherings and romance. Marriages contracted/performed today produce resourceful and wealthy children. It is an excellent day for assemblies, parties and celebrations.
This day brings fresh breezes in Spring, cooling mist in Summer, light rain in Fall and thin ice in Winter. It is inauspicious to enter retreat, practice renunciation or travel alone. Avoid confrontation."
LM Notes: The Mound

SATURDAY December 10, Yang Fire Tiger 12
Hexagram 55 Feng: Abundance
Lunar Mansion: The Stomach / Phesant
Solar Indicator: Full

Even if today feels a bit discombobulated, there is abundant potential.

"It is auspicious to build, bury the dead (increase status/rank) and marry (your children will hobnob with kings) on this day. It is a good day to make your case, to push forward and to ask for what you are due (collecting receivables). It is a good day for gift giving and charity (cancelling debts owed you)."
“Contraindicated activity: It is inauspicious to be confrontational, break the law or squander resources (gamble); such activities will bring years of loss and regret.”
LM Notes: The Stomach

“This is an optimum day for education, preparation, polishing, gathering resources and firming up plans. Confidence grows as the right time and necessary resources are now part of the vision. The qi is forming patterns and remaining in the channels. Practice and disciplined cultivation bring confidence. The prince (yang) is gaining support. Discipline in small matters succeeds.  True confidence requires no aggression. Though nothing needs to be done, the natural maturation of strength occurs.”
LM Notes: Full

LUNAR HEXAGRAM 61 Zhongfu: Holding the Center
“It is only when we have a strong center that we can survive difficulties and adapt to change. It takes strength (qi) to win, it takes strength (qi) to lose and, most importantly, it takes strength (qi) to adapt to change. Do no waste qi through celebrating success of complaining about failure - demonstrate your qi through adaptation and then return to the quiet within."
LM Changing: Zhouyi

SUNDAY December 11, Yin Fire Rabbit 13
Hexagram 30 Li: Oriole
Lunar Mansion: The Watchers / Cock
Solar Indicator: Level

Move quickly today, and enjoy the moment.

“It is auspicious to stay home (familiar places / people), study, enter retreat, initiate austerities and make offerings to the dead. It is wise to postpone everything proactive (marriage, building, funeral, burials).
“It is not auspicious to be industrious in any way (building will bring loss). All positive events that occur today will ultimately have negative results (marriage will end in disloyalty and divorce). Medical treatments on this day will complicate existing illness - turn acute into chronic (possibly bring on premature death). Confrontation or battle on this day will lead to injury or death.”
LM Notes: The Watchers

"Pleasure is the outcome of disciplined practice."
LM Notes: Level

MONDAY December 12, Yang Earth Dragon 14
Hexagram 49 Ge: Molting
Lunar Mansion: The Net / Crow
Solar Indicator: Settle

"When intense transformation starts, the outcome relies on our ability to let go and experience metamorphosis...we can expect to survive and be powerfully transformed by the demands of the journey."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 49 Ge

Find your modesty and join forces.

"To consult a physician and consult oracles (divination of all kinds) will bring clarity. It is a good day for industry (labor/gardening) = long term wealth), building (restores clarity) and burying the dead (enhance intuition). It is inauspicious to take anything for granted. It is inauspicious for revolution, confrontation, breaking taboos, neglecting responsibilities or travel (someone at home dies/gets sick)."
LM Notes: The Net
