INDICATORS - The pattern components that continuously rotate per year, month, daily, lunar or solar phase. The indicators below articulate the current alignment.
LUNAR YEAR: YANG EARTH DOG 4716 - Faithful Vigilance
“Charged: loyal, caring, protective, direct, helpful, intuitive, insightful, private, calm under
fire, just, expansive, congenial and quiet.
Deplete: stubborn, argumentative, spiteful, vain, rigid, frozen with anxiety, stingy and
excessively critical.
Image: The Dog talked about in Chinese Astrology is the Chow. This dog has been domesticated for more than 5000 years, both as an aggressive house guard and a battlefield companion. The battlefield Chow was ferocious at crippling the horses of the enemy chariots while never losing sight of its trainer (whose corpse it would protect even with its own life). The Dog epitomizes loyalty."
YANG EARTH DOG (1898, 1958, 2018, 2078) ‘Mountain Dog’
EARTH is the native element of the Dog Earthly Branch. Earth Dogs are modest, funny
and independent characters. They are light-hearted and generous, often quitting difficult
situations and avoiding confrontations. A short temper is hidden behind their joking. Strong
idealistic aspirations fill their youth and soften as the hardships of life close in. They do not
express their feelings or thoughts easily. They are prone to qi stagnation and poor circulation."
LUNAR MONTH: YIN WATER BOAR (1863, 1923, 1983, 2043) ‘Forest Pig’
WATER is the native element of the Pig Earthly Branch. Water Pigs are volatile, open-minded and gregarious characters. They enjoy career, personal and financial experiments. Their preoccupation with others goes past caring into jealousy and envy. They often squander their qi hoping to please others. Their volatile emotions make them susceptible to all manner of illness and possibly suicide. Their maternal ancestors haunt them. If they resolve their ancestors’ negativity they have great spiritual potential.
QI NODE: 18 Frost Descends
Yin Encloses Yang
"The Frost Descends qi node is when autumn collapses into winter. Lesser Yin gives way to Great Yin. On Earth stasis and frost are prevalent. As the autumn descends into winter, natural activity appears to subside. In fact, activity simply withdraws deeper and deeper inward and down. The northwest wind carries in the growing cold with transitional dam. Days grow short (yang diminishes). During this period the environment grows ever more yin and is characterized by hoarfrost. Dampness (Earth) rides the cold wind and is variable. Snow threatens. The blustery wind is pernicious cold/damp.
Yang, withdrawing in and downward, must not be called back up and out. Dress warmly and stay out of the wind. During the period qi is best at 8pm. Neigong is practiced inside where it is warm, rub your belly until it turns red. Eat warm and nourishing meals and go to bed early. Even if the weather is not cold (temperature) do not get caught in the wind."
LM The Way of Three Treasures
LUNAR HEXAGRAM 52 Gen: Still
"You are advised to keep still (resist the urge to move) and enter the unseen (meditation) - two actions, which are non-actions. Good fortune comes from keeping still. Let things arise of themselves. Do not struggle.”

MONDAY November 19, Yin Wood Rabbit 12
Hexagram 42 Yi: Increase
Lunar Mansion: The Bow /
Deer
Solar Indicator: Settle
Go with the
determination of today's character and engage...opportunity is abundant.
“Yi is about the
natural progress of things when it is enhanced by the best of conditions. Sun
and water and good soil help the tree grow strong; yet a tree is also
subordinate to the warmth, the rain and the soil. The tree also naturally
"knows” what to take and leave. Yi is the “knowledge” of nature.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi 42 Yi
“Auspicious activity: It
is auspicious to build and buy new property. It is an especially good day to
get married. It is favorable for divination, signing contracts,
romance/courtship and all forms of partnership. Good auspice is especially
related to festive group events, banqueting, family gatherings and/or community
celebrations. It is an excellent day to take office (begin a new job).
Contraindicated
Activity: It is not auspicious for funerals/burials (become unsettled: ghosts).
Seclusion or isolation is unfavorable (miss opportunity).”
LM Notes: The Bow
“Preparedness makes
action timely and successful. Tradition, convention, training, education - all
forms of readiness, inspire action. Forces join together and new alliances
produce unexpected results. Action taken with such thorough preparation is
bound to succeed. The qi of the day is stable, progressive and functional.
Clarity and calm (yin) are not unseated by action (yang). Focus and repetition
succeed. Procrastination and equivocation is contraindicated.”
LM Notes: Settle

LUNAR HEXAGRAM 28 Da Guo: Excess
“Da Guo contains
instructions on how to avoid disaster in heavy, grave or weird and
unconventional circumstances. When you get entangled in excess, going forward
with caution may be the best thing to do. Excess and eccentricity have their
place. Something greater than the usual mechanical sense of cause and effect is
at work in Da Guo."

TUESDAY November 20, Yang Fire Dragon 13
Hexagram Consult the
Oracle
Lunar Mansion: The
Wings / Serpent
Solar Indicator:
Maintain
Today's grandeur expands most gracefully through appropriateness, support of others and timing.
“Good auspice relies
heavily on inclusiveness, following custom (manners), social convention and
guileless loyalty. Good fortune comes through the natural ‘chain of command’.
Misfortune is directly related to breaking taboos, ignoring family, conventions
and/or defaulting on commitments of any kind. Lie still, move slowly and
methodically and the snake won’t strike.”
LM Notes: The Wings
“Spontaneous action and
inspiration (yang) become the new tradition (yin). Qi assertion (yang) is
repeated again and again to hold and harden gains (yin). Establishing a new
state is the focus. The qi of practice and the drilling of troops is awesome.
Allies appear from all quarters. True majesty succeeds without pressing
forward. Today success breeds more success and everyone may be included in the
new victories. Generosity is a prophylactic to decline - giving is a sign of
strength and cements alliances. It is the sun at noon.”
LM Notes: Maintain
WEDNESDAY November 21, Yin Fire Snake 14
Hexagram 51 Zhen: Thunder
Lunar Mansion: The Chariot / Earthworm
Solar Indicator: Destroy
Lunar Mansion: The Chariot / Earthworm
Solar Indicator: Destroy
Today character lends a mesmerizing, ambitious and disciplined approach. Use the composure of the day to engage with what is adjusting. Cancel what no longer works and offer integrity everywhere.
"Zhen indicates
a time for a dramatic breakthrough from lethargy. Good fortune here has
everything to do with staying calm. Zhen denotes a situation where,
though things are in turmoil at first, they sort out and become beneficial in
the long run. Whether you are the rebel leader or the deposed ruler there is
good reason to proceed with standard protocol, good manners, and
determination.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi 51 Zhen
“Auspicious Activity:
Great success comes to anyone who initiates and continues industry. Business
booms, all prosper. Building and remodeling go well (bring prestige). Marriages
will inspire both partners to be their best and they will produce brilliant offspring.
Funerals, memorials and burials will allow the dead true peace (and produce
scholar offspring). Contraindicated activity: It is very unfavorable to
procrastinate and/or postpone.”
LM Notes: The Chariot
“The successful prince
as warrior must now lose his youthful ambitions and develop into a proper
king….Today calculated loss (cancellation) succeeds”
LM Notes: Destroy
THURSDAY November 22, Yang Earth Horse 15
Hexagram 21 Shihe: Biting
Lunar Mansion: The Horn / Crocodile
Solar Indicator: Danger
Lunar Mansion: The Horn / Crocodile
Solar Indicator: Danger
Self reflection, grace and humility are transformative today.
"A Zhou leader was
both a warrior and a sage, not a brute. Good leaders know that it is their own
miscalculations and poor management that lead to the need for a strong use of
force (war). When we resort to harsh punishments we must do so cautiously - even
humbly."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 21 Shihe
“It is auspicious to
begin or initiate any activity (marriage) or series of activities. It is a good
day to buy property, plant a garden, apply for and/or begin a new job. It is
ideal to apply to or enter school, begin a construction or remodeling project.
It is auspicious for marriage proposals and making your case as asking
permission is favorably received. All activities related to children and/or
young people are auspicious. Its first appearance each year (or any Spring
season) is particularly auspicious. A child born on this day will be
intelligent and fortunate.
“Contraindicated
activity: Funerals, memorials, constructing tombs and burials will bring about
disaster to a family. It is not time for exerted effort or overcoming
obstacles. The qi is fresh and unformed and therefore should not be pressed
into fixation (slavery).”
LM Notes: The Horn
“To roust hypocrisy in
his new alliances the leader must bait his hidden enemies (yin) by showing
vulnerability. This day is a qi expression of true power but all the action is
fraught with danger and risk. The games of political power are also the
precursors of decline. The power plays show yin to be drawing life from the
heart of yang. Success is limited now to a kind of survival. Manipulation and
covert action succeed. Elegance becomes the mask of cleverness and intrigue.
Doing only what needs to be done is best. Old habits or patterns of pressing
forward will invite catastrophe. Beware grudges.”
