INDICATORS - The pattern components that continuously rotate per year, month, daily, lunar or or solar phase. The indicators below articulate the current alignment.
YEAR of the BOAR Honest
Charged: plain speaking, caring, sensuous, compromising, eloquent, tolerant, humanitarian, reliable, unselfish, funny, hard-working, lucky and gregarious.
Deplete: self-indulgent, indulgent, oversexed, luxury loving, flamboyant, secretive, long-suffering, gullible and self destructive.
Image: The Chinese character for home includes the character for this Pig. Needless to say in Chinese astrology, Pigs are the most domestic of signs. A modest sacrificial animal since ancient times, it has become a mainstay of the Chinese diet - considered a ‘great transformer,’ able to make garbage into sweet white meat. In parts of China a family’s wealth is measured in the number of Pigs one owns. The wild boar mother is considered one of the fiercest animals alive. The mother boar will attack a Tiger seeking its young without an interest in surviving - the ultimate expression of aggression. Pigs collect material objects and derive great sustenance from them. They see stuff as art/food.
YIN EARTH BOAR (1899, 1959, 2019, 2079) ‘Monastery Pig’
Earth Boars are sensual, lethargic and aimless characters. They are hard to teach and hold very strong opinions. Their previous causes are strong but may support a hardened view of life. Attractive and popular socially they cannot maintain committed relationships (overly protective then cold). Those closest to them often become their worst enemies. Their material fortunes are however good and they live in comfort and luxury. Though they appear healthy they are plagued by chronic dampness.
MONTH YIN FIRE RABBIT (1867, 1927, 1987, 2047) ‘Moon-Gazing Rabbit’
Fire Rabbits are quiet, but stiff and regal. They think very little of the knowledge or teachings of others and have a high opinion of their own opinions and thoughts. They are painfully idealistic. Their lack of trust conflicts with their strong sexual appetite and this often leaves them isolated and lonely. They marry more than once. Despite repeated calamities in their lives, they have good fortune and will be comforted by wealth and position. Though strong, they often acquire unusual diseases - difficult to diagnose and treat. They are particularly susceptible to pernicious cold.
QI NODE: 4 Spring Equinox
Yin and Yang Equality
"At the Spring Equinox the yin and yang are equal. A quivering Yang arises and a shaky Yin submits. The day and night are equal in length. This qi node marks one of four annual pivots that rectify the annual qi. In lunar calendar terms this is spring's midpoint. A Prince is crowned. During this qi node the best qi is available around dawn; you should practice neigong facing due east and greet the dawn. Imagine that you inhale the true and pure yang of the sun from over the horizon as the light appears. Have it enter your body and refresh all your organs, channels and joints.
You will notice that all the winter's lethargy is gone and if you have been cultivating spring, yang is no longer shaky. Plans and actions are enhanced. It is an ideal time for in depth study, long walks and consulting with diviners and astrologers. Focus and go forward. Do not forget the advice of sages! Crows and ravens are sun-creatures in Chinese tradition - they will be rascally now all through spring and summer."
LM The Way of Three Treasures
LUNAR HEXAGRAM: 17 Sui: Pursuit
“In Sui goals
(hunt) are reached but it is important not to make pursuit (killing) itself the
goal. An important aspect of successful leadership is knowing when to
subordinate and who or what to follow.
“In this hexagram, the
source of clarity and the strength that bring true success is subordination to
fate - the act of following. When your efforts are rewarded it is stopping that
brings success. Getting caught up in pursuit for its own sake will make you mad
and diminish your resources."

TUESDAY April 2, Yin Earth Snake 27
Hexagram 48 Jing: The
Well
Lunar Mansion: The Beak
/ Monkey
Solar Indicator: Full
Today's auspices
highlight reciprocity. The Earth Snake has a bit of a midas touch as
well, be generous, disciplined and appropriate to nourish benefit.
"Jing is
about the natural reciprocity in the human relationship to nature. The Zhouyi
says that the unevenness of nature (well) mirrors the unevenness of our
conduct. If we act inappropriately we ruin our resources (dry well). In the Zhouyi
nature is not an almighty god that stands in judgement of us, meting out
punishment for our wrongs. Nature is a dialog. ”
LM Changing: Zhouyi
48 Jing
"It bodes well to
follow superiors, practice austerity and/or pool resources with others. It is a
good day to sincerely comply with divination and maintain taboos meticulously.
"It is inauspicious
to push forward, be industrious or initiate new ventures. Revolution or
demanding idealistic justice on this day will be catastrophic."
LM Notes: The Beak
“This is an optimum day
for education, preparation, polishing, gathering resources and firming up
plans. Confidence grows as the right time and necessary resources are now part
of the vision. The qi is forming patterns and remaining in the channels.
Practice and disciplined cultivation bring confidence. The prince (yang) is
gaining support. Discipline in small matters succeeds. True confidence requires
no aggression. Though nothing needs to be done, the natural maturation of
strength occurs.”

WEDNESDAY April 3, Yang Metal Horse 28
Hexagram 57 Xun: Compliance
Lunar Mansion: The Trio
/ Gibbon
Solar Indicator: Level
"Favorable for
success in small matters and/or taking the subordinate role. Good fortune
relies on your compliance to divination, so failure to submit to wise omen
brings disaster."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 57
Xun
"It bodes well to
dispose of inessentials (haircuts), edit, fast, study (Classics), take exams,
enter retreat and practice meditation. It is good to be industrious close to
home (house clean). Initiating business (particularly group enterprise) will be
fruitful if planning has been thorough.
"It is inauspicious
to push forward aggressively. Do not get married, finalize divorce, bury the
dead (it will create family dissent), spend savings or speculate financially as
these all lead to losing resources and cooperation."
LM Notes: The Trio
“This is a day when
stable readiness and the qi of confidence blooms into activity. Youthful
anxiety and ambition are replaced by personal strength and confidence. From
this position all things look and are possible. Educated choices are easily
acted upon. Others join you to enlarge the success of activity. The prince
(yang) is mature, if inexperienced, but ready to act independently of his
mother (yin). Pleasure is the outcome of disciplined practice. Yang qi’s
previously renegade quality is matured, integrated and dominant.”

THURSDAY April 4, Yin Metal Goat 29
Hexagram Consult the
Oracle
Lunar Mansion: The Well
/ Tapir
Solar Indicator: Settle
“It is auspicious to
build, remodel, do fengshui adjustments, take exams, and maintain
routine industry. The earth can be dug (gardening = wealth) and it is a good
day to donate, buy or sell (investment) real estate. Community or charity
projects will flourish. It is favorable for apologies. It is favorable for
medical treatments (particularly for initiating a series of treatments for a
chronic condition).
“It is not auspicious to
postpone needed repairs, apologies or difficult tasks. It is not good for funerals
or burials of those who died by suicide, violence or sudden illness because
others will soon follow.”
LM Notes: The Well
“Preparedness makes
action timely and successful. Tradition, convention, training, education - all
forms of readiness, inspire action. Forces join together and new alliances
produce unexpected results. Action taken with such thorough preparation is
bound to succeed. The qi of the day is stable, progressive and functional.
Clarity and calm (yin) are not unseated by action (yang). Focus and repetition
succeed. Procrastination and equivocation is contraindicated.”

MONTH YANG EARTH DRAGON (1808, 1868, 1928, 1988, 2048) ‘Yielding Dragon’
Earth is the native
element of the Dragon Earthly Branch. Earth Dragons have a distinguished and
regal character. They are powerful, popular and broad-minded and suited to
leadership. Their fortunes rise and fall. They achieve power, wealth and
position but indulge in the rewards of success to excess. Their troubles are
that they cannot stay within ordinary (social, political) boundaries and cannot
listen to advice. Their physical constitutions are iron-clad. They are rarely
if ever ill.
LUNAR HEXAGRAM 43 Guai: Lurch
“Guai tells us
when impulsiveness, abruptness and breaking with standard protocol are okay.
Success, in the case of Guai, is a timely, but abrupt, escape. Sometimes
it is best to immediately quit a situation and/or abandon a relationship because
of its excessive restrictions. Guai carries the ambiguous message that
misconduct is sometimes appropriate.”

FRIDAY April 5, Yang Water Monkey 1
Hexagram 32 Heng:
Constancy
Lunar Mansion: The Ghost
/ Sheep
Solar Indicator: Settle
Today has an unpredictable and dramatic emotional character. Aim for alliance and take opportunity to reflect, to honor what has come before you and what keeps you moving along...
“Heng is very
favorable for carrying out routine work. Maintaining and practicing what is
durable in life brings good fortune."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 32 Heng
“It is especially
auspicious for funeral/burial (resolution of fate). It is also good to make
gifts/donations to temples and offerings to the divinities, spiritual guardians
and make memorials for the dead (ancestors/lineage). It is advantageous for
entering retreat, meditation, fasting, spiritual initiation, ordination and ‘crossing
over’ into transitory states.
“It is not auspicious
for worldly industry of any kind. It is a bad day to go to war (many
casualties) or get married (husband will die early). One should avoid the
wilderness (possession/illness will result).”
LM Notes: The Ghost
“Preparedness makes
action timely and successful. Tradition, convention, training, education - all
forms of readiness, inspire action. Forces join together and new alliances
produce unexpected results. Action taken with such thorough preparation is
bound to succeed. The qi of the day is stable, progressive and functional.
Clarity and calm (yin) are not unseated by action (yang). Focus and repetition
succeed. Procrastination and equivocation is contraindicated.”
