INDICATORS Listed: Yearly, Monthly, Lunar then Daily
::: ::: ::: = Change
INDICATORS - The pattern components that continuously rotate per year, month, daily, lunar or solar phase. The indicators below articulate the current alignment.
LUNAR YEAR: YEAR of the BOAR
"Charged: plain speaking, caring, sensuous, compromising, eloquent, tolerant, humanitarian, reliable, unselfish, funny, hard-working, lucky and gregarious.
Deplete: self-indulgent, indulgent, oversexed, luxury loving, flamboyant, secretive, long-suffering, gullible and self destructive.
Image: The Chinese character for home includes the character for this Pig. Needless to say in Chinese astrology, Pigs are the most domestic of signs. A modest sacrificial animal since ancient times, it has become a mainstay of the Chinese diet - considered a ‘great transformer,’ able to make garbage into sweet white meat. In parts of China a family’s wealth is measured in the number of Pigs one owns. The wild boar mother is considered one of the fiercest animals alive. The mother boar will attack a Tiger seeking its young without an interest in surviving - the ultimate expression of aggression. Pigs collect material objects and derive great sustenance from them. They see stuff as art/food."
YIN EARTH BOAR (1899, 1959, 2019, 2079) ‘Monastery Pig’
Earth Boars are sensual, lethargic and aimless characters. They are hard to teach and hold very strong opinions. Their previous causes are strong but may support a hardened view of life. Attractive and popular socially they cannot maintain committed relationships (overly protective then cold). Those closest to them often become their worst enemies. Their material fortunes are however good and they live in comfort and luxury. Though they appear healthy they are plagued by chronic dampness."
LUNAR MONTH: YANG FIRE RAT (1876, 1936, 1996, 2056) ‘Field Rat’
Fire Rats are aggressive, excitable and brave characters. They hide their resources then burst forward and break rules. They enjoy uncovering other people’s secrets and have more than a few themselves. Their fortune starts out obstructed but clears in midlife, when their previous misconduct begins to resolve. Think reckless Robin Hood. They have a constitutional weakness in stomach/spleen and are prone to heart problems. If they reach old age they have wisdom and gain respect. They will have “been there and done that”.
QI NODE: 19 Winter Begins
Yin Hides Yang
“The qi node called Winter Begins is a time of growing cold and the development of Big Yin qi. Days get short and nights grow long. The ground hardens (but does not freeze), insects disappear and the last harvest must be stored away. During this period the environment grows ever more Yin and is characterized by cold (water element). The winter is the great Abyss of Yin. If yang is not stored the world is barren.
As the last of the autumn qi subsides, a cold north wind (qi) appears and the season of winter begins in earnest. Dampness (Earth) riding the cold wind is only occasional. Winter is here and there is a chance to enjoy the Cold. During this period the environmental qi is best at 9pm. Neigong is practiced in the morning and just before bed. Dream with intention.”

LUNAR HEXAGRAM: 63 Jiji: Already Across
"Everything is ending well but decline and disorder is inevitable. Do not hurry or press for completion...Do not imagine that change ever stops. Things do not come to an end. When you succeed, do not assume things are complete or finished. To maintain success is no easy matter. When we are triumphant, we are fated to have the same decline and loss as our predecessor."

QI NODE: 20 Little Snow
Yin Expands
“In the Little Snow qi node the continued growth of the cold/yin continues and our adaptation to Big Yin should have set in. The first snow seems beautiful like a young princess. The wisdom of the Past (ancestors) is proven true. The pattern of withdrawal seems just and truthful. Yin is now well established.
“Now it is easy to feel winter has begun. As winter grows cold and the maturation of the annual yin qi develops the cold and damp unite to create snow. Days get shorter - the dark grows quickly. The ground hardens and may freeze, insects disappear and rainbows no longer appear. The qi is best at 10pm. During this period the environment grows ever more yin and yang inhibition grows stronger. Every being/thing must rest. A trip south (winter vacation) is recommended for those with insufficient yang. We must guard our inner yang as it recedes from the environment. Cancel your activities in preparation for retreat. Earphones and iPod should replace public concerts. Check your insulation! Catch up on classic movies.”

LUNAR HEXAGRAM: 64 Weiji: Not Yet Across
"Expect to be
unfulfilled at first and then later satisfied. The old has not quite turned
into the new...Good for waiting and preparation, education and
growth. Bad for pressing forward, conflict, lawsuits,
examinations, and travel."

WEDNESDAY December 4, Yin Wood Pig 9
Hexagram 53 Jian: Gliding
Lunar Mansion: The Wall / Porcupine
Solar Indicator: Design
Today has mixed auspices. Pay
attention to your instincts, consult oracles and mentors in order to give a
hand to the otherwise gullible, immature and strong willed character of
the day.
"Jian is the
omen read from the gliding, settling, gliding and settling of migrating birds.
It is about gradual and instinctive progress. Jian also represents the
growth of plants, a traditional courtship, the gracious acceptance of fate, and
our natural continuity with the ancestors. It is the story of a long and
predestined journey, the power of perseverance, and the predisposition
(character, nature and fate) inherent in our birth.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi 53 Jian
"It is auspicious
to build, remodel and make fengshui adjustments (increase
opportunities/wealth [public part of home]). It is auspicious to initiate
business, sign contracts and get married (strengthen family ties). It is
auspicious for investments, banking (gardening [increase fertility]) and study
(the classics). It is an especially good day to exercise (martial arts),
socialize (create parties, feasts and celebrations). It is also advantageous to
travel, start a journey or vacation. NOT complying with the auspice of this
indicator may lead to madness and suicide.
"Contraindicated
activity: It is inauspicious to withdraw, begin an austerity or retreat."
LM Notes: The Wall
“It is an excellent day
to recover wisdom by stepping back, planning, recalling alliances and
reassessing our position.”
LM Notes: Design
THURSDAY December 5, Yang Fire Rat 10
Hexagram 39 Jain: Stumbling
Lunar Mansion: The Stride / Wolf
Solar Indicator: Divide
Put today's aggressive, excitable
and brave character to work. Do things that fortify, edit, express
self-discipline and patience.
“Events call for
experts, but, even if experts cannot be found, all goes well. Caution,
patience, humility and self-discipline pay off. If you are not anxious or selfish,
you are given success."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 39 Jian
"It is auspicious
to build, remodel or repair property (line clothing for winter) - in the sense
to fortify or strengthen. It is auspicious to transact routine business,
banking (anything that parallels the storing for winter), to plan but not
speculate. It is beneficial to receive medical treatments (qi in channels) It
is favorable to make amulets.
"It is inauspicious
to travel, argue or press lawsuits. It is not advised to dig the ground or bury
the dead."
LM Notes: The Stride
"Holding back on
this day is related to deeper self-reflection, education of all sorts and
consulting with experts and elders - rather than forward action. It is not
about immature reluctance or cowardice but about shedding inessentials."
LM Notes: Divide
FRIDAY December 6, Yin Fire Ox 11
Hexagram 52 Gen: Still
Lunar Mansion: The Mound / Dog
Solar Indicator: Full
Be still. Go with routine, practice
discipline and engage in celebration...
"You are advised to
keep still (resist the urge to move) and enter the unseen (meditation) - two
actions, which are non-actions. Good fortune comes from keeping still. Let
things arise of themselves. Do not struggle.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi 52 Gen
"It is time to
build (thresholds, public buildings) and add on (growth of family: new baby,
new bride) to property. It is auspicious to initiate and continue routine
business. It is a day for feasting, gatherings and romance. Marriages
contracted/performed today produce resourceful and wealthy children. It is an
excellent day for assemblies, parties and celebrations.
“This day brings fresh
breezes in Spring, cooling mist in Summer, light rain in Fall and thin ice in
Winter. It is inauspicious to enter retreat, practice renunciation or travel alone.
Avoid confrontation."
LM Notes: The Mound
“This is an optimum day
for education, preparation, polishing, gathering resources and firming up
plans. Confidence grows as the right time and necessary resources are now part
of the vision. The qi is forming patterns and remaining in the channels. Practice
and disciplined cultivation bring confidence. The prince (yang) is gaining
support. Discipline in small matters succeeds. True confidence requires no
aggression. Though nothing needs to be done, the natural maturation of strength
occurs.”

QI NODE: 21 Great Snow
Yin Matures
“The Great Snow qi node
is a time of visions and magic. Our inner yang sees images in the Great Yin.
Things are not as they appear. Yin extends its influence into our dreams.
During this qi node qi is best at 11pm (when you are asleep). Practice neigong
in the morning and evening. Remembered or forgotten dreams appear in this
qi node that portend the coming year. The darkening of the light means shorter
days, no rainbows and abundant snow. Stillness may lead to stagnation. All
activity slows down, many things seem to stop or die. Every being/thing must
rest. A trip south (winter vacation) is recommended for those with insufficient
yang.”

SATURDAY December 7, Yang Earth Tiger 12
Hexagram 15 Qian: Modesty
Lunar Mansion: The Stomach /
Pheasant
Solar Indicator: Full
The auspices of the day require
modesty, appropriate action and education...when in doubt relax, the character
of the day is otherwise obstinate, emotional and cavalier.
“With true modesty
anything can be accomplished. In modest steps a great journey can be
accomplished. Even when strong action needs to be taken, do not abandon
modesty.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi 15 Qian
"It is auspicious
to build, bury the dead (increase status/rank) and marry (your children will
hobnob with kings) on this day. It is a good day to make your case, to push
forward and to ask for what you are due (collecting receivables). It is a good
day for gift giving and charity (canceling debts owed you)."
“Contraindicated
activity: It is inauspicious to be confrontational, break the law or squander
resources (gamble); such activities will bring years of loss and regret.”
LM Notes: The Stomach
“This is an optimum day
for education, preparation, polishing, gathering resources and firming up
plans. Confidence grows as the right time and necessary resources are now part
of the vision. The qi is forming patterns and remaining in the channels.
Practice and disciplined cultivation bring confidence. The prince (yang) is
