INDICATORS

YEAR of the FIRE MONKEY 4714
(Native Yang Metal) Imaginative/Clever/Playful
"Charged: curious, capable, funny, adaptable, intelligent, resourceful, innovative, playful, imaginative, responsive and heals fast.

Deplete: manipulative, deceptive, unfocused, cunning, erratic, crafty, frantic, nervous, compulsive, anxious and possibly criminal.

Image: The Monkey talked about in Chinese Astrology is well known to the Chinese peasant as a god. The Tibetan and Zhou people both have fables of a Monkey ancestor. The most famous Monkey in China is the wily Monkey who aids a monk in bringing the Buddhist sutras from India. All the images portray the Monkey as godlike but with the weaknesses commonly associated with humans (desire). This is the perilous balancing act that gives us an understanding of the Monkey character. Poised between the profound and the mundane, Monkeys are capable of a broad awareness of their environment. Nothing is left to convention. For Monkeys the greatest danger is selfish fantasy, the evil sister of visionary wisdom. Monkeys fluctuate between materialism and austerity. Material possessions must not block a Monkey’s need for flexibility.

Fire Monkey (1836, 1896, 1956, 2016, 2076) ‘Mountain Monkey’
Fire Monkey’s are organized, industrious and frank characters. They have strong sexual energy and work on their appearance. They are late to settle down. Their fortunes are good (though their motivation may be inspired by escaping hardship) and they are successful in business. They are particularly capable of avoiding negativity, but they will unfortunately need this skill. Though vigorous they are susceptible to wind disorders and may have coronary problems."

LUNAR MONTH: YANG WATER DRAGON 3
"Water Dragons are hardworking, restless and taciturn characters. Despite their efforts, they do not find a home, friends or family easily. Their patience and humor protect them from disaster. They are distinguished but not haughty. Their idealism, turned on themselves, will inhibit them and makes their fortune uneven. They will, however, spend their twilight years in comfort. Despite a strong constitution they are prone to nervous disorders and suffer a constant stream of minor chronic ailments." LM Notes

QI NODE: 7 Summer Begins
Yang Ascends
"In Summer Begins the Yang that was trapped in the Earth (in Winter) is now full-fledged and in the Sky. The sun shines brightly. Hawks soar, frogs croak and earthworms are abundant. Thought Yang has nearly matured it can still be impulsive, reckless. If the weather (our conduct) is not seasonal, storms can be destructive to crops. Yang in Summer Begins is like an unskilled soldier anxious to prove his valor on the battlefield. This sense of aggression invites the occasional hot wind invasion so caution is recommended in your exposure to the sun and wind.
The qi is best at 9am, get up early and do not practice neigong in the direct sun. Several short practice sessions instead of one long one is a good idea. A relaxed sense of confidence and a clear Appetite can be your guide. When in doubt, eat several small meals rather than 2 or 3 big ones. Spring vegetables and fish are still the main course. Vegetarian meals are suitable for anyone now as the produce ripens. Yang activity is 'full-on' now so do not sit around lethargically - get up and circulate. Be persevering and maintain connectedness to your springtime dreams and projects."

LUNAR HEXAGRAM 6 Song: Disputing
“When a situation lacks clarity it is best to retreat and wait for fortunes to change. Using litigation is a costly and risky way to succeed. If disputes are successfully resolved, caution is still required in handling the outcomes. Do not exert yourself in complicated or obstructed situations. Do not force things. It is favorable to self-reflect and to seek council.”

THURSDAY May 5, Yin Fire Pig 29
Hexagram 64 Weiji: Not yet across
Lunar Mansion: The Well / Tapir
Solar Indicator: Destroy

Notice the shift of Qi Node, and circulate.

"It is auspicious to build, remodel, do fengshui adjustments, take exams, and maintain routine industry. The earth can be dug and it is a good day to donate, buy or sell real estate. Community or charity projects will flourish. It is favorable for apologies. It is favorable for medical treatments. It is not auspicious to postpone needed repairs, apologies or difficult tasks."
LM Notes: The Well

FRIDAY May 6, Yang Earth Rat 30
Hexagram 40 Jie: Release
Lunar Mansion: The Ghost / Sheep
Solar Indicator: Danger

"Favorable for cautious, positive or progressive movement. For the best results keep your actions small and focused - others join you to expand the possibilities"
LM Changing: Zhouyi40 Jie

Make offerings to your ancestors and spiritual guardians. Meditation, entering retreat and fasting are all advantageous. Let this focus flow through your weekend.

LUNAR MONTH: YIN WATER SNAKE 4
"Water Snakes are cunning, gifted and restless characters. Their seductive qi brings them assistance from people of knowledge and power. Their good fortunes rely upon others (previous causes). Their inner life is secret and they do not reveal their real thoughts or feelings to anyone. They dislike personal commitment and are unlikely to parent children. Natural renunciates, who enjoy the wilderness, their potential for the practice of wisdom traditions is great. They are prone to contagious disease and cold illnesses (pain). They are not easily ‘read’." LM Notes

LUNAR HEXAGRAM 1 Qian: Heaven
“When you play in the sky like a dragon, judicious timing (rather than a show of force) is appropriate. The key to the power of primordial yang is found in cautious preparation, conservation, and management of yin. If you are prepared for such yang force, you can use it and not lose it, and avoid being abused by it.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi

SATURDAY May 7, Yin Earth Ox 1
Hexagram Consult the oracle
Lunar Mansion: The Willow / Roebuck
Solar Indicator: Complete

"It is a day for resting on your laurels...Wisdom approaches and withdrawing succeeds. Art is the demonstration of confidence, dignity and wisdom - be artful. No more accumulating - decorate with modesty. The way of perfecting power is austerity and restraint. Do less, have less, show less and seek nothing. Enjoy what is already manifest."
LM Notes: Complete

A significant shift is occurring, let it.

SUNDAY May 8, Yang Metal Tiger 2
Hexagram 59 Huan: Overflowing
Lunar Mansion: The Birdstar / Horse
Solar Indicator: Harvest
"Huan is generally favorable and associated with getting rid of the old and bringing in the new. It is the refreshment that comes from deep and honest spiritual revelation."
LM Changing: Zhouyi59 Huan

"Thing powerful, but gentle succeeds...It is auspicious for building and routine work. Good auspice is directly related to continuity, convention and not innovation. It is not auspicious for funerals/burials or marriages. It is a dangerous day for travel and/or medical treatments."
LM Notes: The Birdstar
