YEAR of the FIRE ROOSTER 4715

(Native Yin Metal) Analytical

"Charged: critical, intelligent, confident, alert, social, dignified, articulate, forthright, spontaneous, inspired, financially adept, challenging, meticulous and tidy.

Deplete: volatile, rude, proud, argumentative, blunt, vulgar, tactless, close-minded, hypochondriac, vain, snobby, aloof, harshly competitive and fanatical.

Image: The Rooster talked about in Chinese Astrology is well known to the Chinese as the ordinary version of the phoenix. This bird is an ancient amulet used to ward off the 5 poisonous creatures (snake, scorpion, spider, centipede and toad). The Rooster (not hen) is sacrificed only at rituals requiring oaths (trustworthy). The most familiar image is, of course, the Rooster lording over hens in the yard and dueling to the death in a cockfight - extrovert extraordinaire. There is the precision of its sharp beak (intellectual), the powerful wings (competitive) and the call to sun at dawn and dusk (eloquence). Basic materials become luxury items when chosen by the Rooster eye. Roosters collect books and documents.

Fire Rooster (1837, 1897, 1957, 2017, 2077) 'Solitary Rooster'
Fire Roosters are skillful, sensual and restless characters. They are excellent craftspeople and have a strong ambition to escape the limitations of poverty and class. They flip-flop from iron self-confidence to hopelessness and back. Though apparently strong willed they collapse in the face of difficulties. Their unapologetic, anti-social attitudes will complicate their relationships and dim their fortunes. Their sexuality is ferocious and embarrassment unknown to them. They often carry the burden of unresolved ancestral (congenital) illnesses and are haunted by the unsettled dead."

LUNAR MONTH: YIN WOOD SNAKE ‘Emerging Snake’
"Wood Snakes are honest, shy and popular. Their fortune is to work hard with small result and no praise. These causes are mitigated, even eclipsed by, good sponsors and mentors. Their good fortune is an indirect result of previous causes. Their children will hound and aggravate them unless they are born after the snake is 28. Exhaustion and/or depression precede all illness and injury. Their resilient constitution recovers thorough rest, sleep and dream. When calm their artistic ability is excellent. "

QI NODE: 7 Summer Begins

Yang Ascends

"In Summer Begins the Yang heat that was trapped in the Earth (In Winter) is now full-fledged and in the Sky. The sun shines brightly. Hawks soar, frogs croak and earthworms are abundant. Though Yang has nearly matured it can still be impulsive, reckless. If the weather (our conduct) is not seasonal, storms can be destructive to crops. Yang in Summer Begins is like an unskilled soldier anxious to prove his valor on the battlefield. This sense of aggression invites the occasional hot wind invasion so caution is recommended in your exposure to the sun and wind.

“The qi is best at 9am, get up early and do not practice neigong in the direct sun. Several short practice sessions instead of one long one is a good idea. A relaxed sense of confidence and a clear Appetite can be your guide. When in doubt, eat several small meals rather than 2 or 3 big ones. Spring vegetables and fish are still the main course. Vegetarian meals are suitable for anyone now as the produce ripens. Yang activity is ‘full-on’ now so do not sit around lethargically - get up and circulate. Be preserving and maintain connectedness to your springtime dreams and projects."

"Xu suggest that waiting is a part of the natural unfolding (fate) of all situations. Xu is about making the most of waiting - using the power of patience and procrastination to avoid struggle and develop wisdom in action. Accepting fate is not about abandoning intelligence. A wise and able person has the sensitivity to find the freedom within fate. The wisdom of Xu is the clarity to hold back and go forward at the right times.”

It is an auspicious day to bury the dead - they will rest peacefully and benefit the surviving relatives.”

Yang matures and takes on a less impulsive quality - it becomes steady in its discipline. The Prince leads his first successful campaign. What were fertile fields now show sprouts. The promise is strong. Trees and shrubs flourish. There is a ‘small fullness’ The sages gather herbs from mountains in peace. Some early fruits are harvested."
