Yin Wood Goat

Year: WOOD GOAT 4713
The Wood Goat, a little girl kid, lends a soft grounded context for us this year; Still very new, maturing quickly and playfully, sincere and disciplined. Herd up, slough off what no longer serves your appetite, compost and go fresh.

Lunar Month: WOOD ROOSTER
"Wood Roosters are idealistic, quarrelsome and insightful. For what seems to them to be no reason, family and sometimes friends abandon them. Their outspoken quality is both a blessing (amusing) and a curse (off-putting). Their fortune is uneven. They often receive the ‘debts of the ancestors’, family debts and congenital illnesses. Though they are likely to suffer from chronic minor illnesses or handicaps, they are long lived." LM Notes
Yin Descends

Qi Node: 16 Autumn Equinox
Yin and Yang Equality
"When the qi node Autumn Equinox arrives annual Yin qi is established. Day and night are equal. During this period the environment grows ever more yin and is characterized by a cool, dry wind (metal element). It is one of four annual pivots that rectify the annual qi. Yin and yang are equal - day and night are equal. Storehouses are filling up and the work of harvest is nearly complete. There is a pleasant stillness.
During this qi node qi is best at 6pm. Neigong should be done indoors morning and evening in short sessions. When yin/yang equality is reached and yin is about to take charge, it is best to eat food that has a higher jing/qi concentration. Breakfast can be eaten a little bit later than in spring/summer but is should be hearty. Do not eat at all after 7pm. All meals should be experienced in a quite and undistracted setting. You needn't be a hermit, but avoid being social at every meal." LM The Way of Three Treasures

Lunar Hexagram 26 Da Chu: Great Store
"Da Chu represents acquisition, accumulation and abundance. The term is associated with the domestication and husbandry of herd animals and the transformation of the untamed wilderness (feudal states/war) into agricultural prosperity (central government/peace). It is the river silt that becomes rich farmland.

"'Eating far from home' means attending a great sacrificial offering made by your clan or a thanksgiving celebration attended by family/friends. 'Crossing the great river' refers to making great and timely progress in worldly affairs." LChanging: Zhouyi

MONDAY
October 5, Yang Wood Tiger 23

Hexagram: 59 Huan: Overflowing
Lunar Mansion: The Heart
Solar Indicator: Maintain
There is a strategic capacity today, esp if you start the day well rested and/or tap a nap in the afternoon. Think getting rid of the old and bringing in the new. In fact, the more routine and even keeled your approach today, the more likely that your strategy will be supported, bare fruit and engage appropriately. "Pushing forward (forcing progress) on this day will have three times the negative result of other days." LM Notes:The Heart
"Spontaneous action and inspiration (yang) become the new tradition (yin)...Allies appear from all quarters. True majesty succeeds without pressing forward." LM Notes: Maintain

TUESDAY October 6, Yin Wood Rabbit 24
Hexagram: 26 Da Chu: Great Store
Lunar Mansion: The Tail
Solar Indicator: Destroy
"At best Kun is how repeated adversity contains an opportunity to have a true look into your own heart...It is about bad situations made worse by overreacting. Sometimes life just makes us 'eat bitter'. The advice here is to chew well." LChanging: Zhouyi
Give your attentions to family, self cultivation, meditation and enjoyment. "Today calculated loss (cancellation) succeeds...Succession should be discussed as wisdom takes the shape of recognizing the limits inherent in the cycles of time." LM Notes: Destroy

Lunar Hexagram: 45 Cui: Assembly
"Cui is about assembling an entire clan before the altar of their ancestors. Spiritual, social and material resources are gathered and put in order. Everyone gathers to perform a collective rite that expresses a true and great unity of spirit. Since the ties of unity are not politically created (promise) but 'found in the blood' success is inevitable. Cui is a festival of natural unity."
LChanging: Zhouyi

WEDNESDAY October 7, Yang Fire Dragon 25
Hexagram: 4 Meng: Immaturity
Lunar Mansion: The Basket
Solar Indicator: Danger

Mixed auspices of today suggest both immature impulse and processing abundance appropriately. Consider youth related activities and causes to support. Consider investments in your families, enjoyment and structural based. Embrace the awkward and energetic youth with calm tradition and appreciate what inspiration has to offer.

Qi Node: 17 Cold Dew

Yin Collects Yang
"In the Cold Dew qi node autumn inclines toward winter. The door of the storehouse is closed; the harvest has been tallied. It is a time of descending temperatures (especially in the early mornings) that mark the growing strength of the annual Yin qi. The mornings show dew or frost. If snow falls, it suddenly melts. Yang drains downward an in. Quiet becomes silence.

As the autumn peaks and descends into winter, natural activity appears to subside. In fact, all activity withdraws inward. The northwest wind (qi) arises carrying the cold and the season of autumn peaks and declines towards winter. In the sough winter crops are planted and in the north the fall harvest is stored away. Leaves fall from the trees. Our healthy bodies continue to crystallize their fluids for winter and the environmental qi supports the process. Light moisture (yin) in the system, used to guard against the summer heat, now crystallizes and concentrates. This fluid transformation, parallel to the descent of frost, indicates a 'slowing' of the heart. In this period we should garner resources (eat heartily), conserve qi (guard Heart) and routinize qi (strengthen Kidney qi).

During this period then environmental qi is best at 7pm. Neigong is practiced inside where it it warm - but do not sweat. Your behavior in the early morning and evening should be ritual or routine. Slow down and it is easy to stay healthy at this time of year! It is not yet time to tonify yang - remember that yang tonics are called 'dangerous' and yin tonics are not. Applying yang when it is not needed or in excessive doses can impair your health."

I am because we are. May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.
