Year: WOOD GOAT 4713
The Wood Goat, a little girl kid, lends a soft grounded context for us this year; Still very new, maturing quickly and playfully, sincere and disciplined. Herd up, slough off what no longer serves your appetite, compost and go fresh.
Lunar Month: WOOD ROOSTER
"Wood Roosters are idealistic, quarrelsome and insightful. For what seems to them to be no reason, family and sometimes friends abandon them. Their outspoken quality is both a blessing (amusing) and a curse (off-putting). Their fortune is uneven. They often receive the ‘debts of the ancestors’, family debts and congenital illnesses. Though they are likely to suffer from chronic minor illnesses or handicaps, they are long lived." LM Notes
Yin Descends
Qi Node: 17 Cold Dew
As the autumn peaks and descends into winter, natural activity appears to subside. In fact, all activity withdraws inward. The northwest wind (qi) arises carrying the cold and the season of autumn peaks and declines towards winter. In the sough winter crops are planted and in the north the fall harvest is stored away. Leaves fall from the trees. Our healthy bodies continue to crystallize their fluids for winter and the environmental qi supports the process. Light moisture (yin) in the system, used to guard against the summer heat, now crystallizes and concentrates. This fluid transformation, parallel to the descent of frost, indicates a 'slowing' of the heart. In this period we should garner resources (eat heartily), conserve qi (guard Heart) and routinize qi (strengthen Kidney qi).
During this period then environmental qi is best at 7pm. Neigong is practiced inside where it it warm - but do not sweat. Your behavior in the early morning and evening should be ritual or routine. Slow down and it is easy to stay healthy at this time of year! It is not yet time to tonify yang - remember that yang tonics are called 'dangerous' and yin tonics are not. Applying yang when it is not needed or in excessive doses can impair your health."

Yin Collects Yang
"In the Cold Dew qi node autumn inclines toward winter. The door of the storehouse is closed; the harvest has been tallied. It is a time of descending temperatures (especially in the early mornings) that mark the growing strength of the annual Yin qi. The mornings show dew or frost. If snow falls, it suddenly melts. Yang drains downward an in. Quiet becomes silence. As the autumn peaks and descends into winter, natural activity appears to subside. In fact, all activity withdraws inward. Lunar Hexagram: 45 Cui: Assembly
"Cui is about assembling an entire clan before the altar of their ancestors. Spiritual, social and material resources are gathered and put in order. Everyone gathers to perform a collective rite that expresses a true and great unity of spirit. Since the ties of unity are not politically created (promise) but 'found in the blood' success is inevitable. Cui is a festival of natural unity."

FRIDAY October 9, Yang Earth Horse 27
Solar Indicator: Complete
Complete: Yin is born from Yang
“It is a day for resting on your laurels. Success is established and secured and the new state seems to govern itself. Enemies are few. It is a time for inward reflection (yin) on the bare face of reality (yang). Struggle (yang) is no longer possible or necessary (yin). Decline is not feared and success not celebrated. Wisdom approaches and withdrawing succeeds. Art is the demonstration of confidence, dignity and wisdom - be artful. No more accumulating - decorate with modesty. The way of perfecting power is austerity and restraint. Do less, have less, show less and seek nothing. Enjoy what is already manifest.” LM Notes: Complete
Look on the bright side and get out of the way. "Do not be overly concerned about limits and restrictions. Stay put and you will grow strong." LM Changing: Zhouyi

Again, stand back today, with a flare of grace. A lovely day to support others and to tend to your own health. Self-reflection, enjoying the arts, practicing austerity (meditation, fasting and rest) are auspicious.

Let an open heart guide your path today and, generally, withdrawal. This day reflects the continuity of conduct toward your ancestors. How often and sincere are you grateful for coming from somewhere? Retreat and think about it.
"Productive activity: It is auspicious to stay home, strengthen family ties and protect your children. Sleep and rest are recommended (be cautioned by your dreams).
Contraindicated activity: On this day it is not auspicious to marry, bury the dead or make offerings to ancestors. Extra-marital affairs begun on this day will eventually ruin your family, reputation and health. Medical treatments today can cause injury and expose constitutional weakness."

I am because we are. May we, together, practice honest self-reflection and open to our collective potential.
