INDICATORS
YEAR of the FIRE ROOSTER 4715
(Native Yin Metal) Analytical
"Charged: critical, intelligent, confident, alert, social, dignified, articulate, forthright, spontaneous, inspired, financially adept, challenging, meticulous and tidy.

Deplete: volatile, rude, proud, argumentative, blunt, vulgar, tactless, close-minded, hypochondriac, vain, snobby, aloof, harshly competitive and fanatical.

Image: The Rooster talked about in Chinese Astrology is well known to the Chinese as the ordinary version of the phoenix. This bird is an ancient amulet used to ward off the 5 poisonous creatures (snake, scorpion, spider, centipede and toad). The Rooster (not hen) is sacrificed only at rituals requiring oaths (trustworthy). The most familiar image is, of course, the Rooster lording over hens in the yard and dueling to the death in a cockfight - extrovert extraordinaire. There is the precision of its sharp beak (intellectual), the powerful wings (competitive) and the call to sun at dawn and dusk (eloquence). Basic materials become luxury items when chosen by the Rooster eye. Roosters collect books and documents.

Fire Rooster (1837, 1897, 1957, 2017, 2077) 'Solitary Rooster'
Fire Roosters are skillful, sensual and restless characters. They are excellent craftspeople and have a strong ambition to escape the limitations of poverty and class. They flip-flop from iron self-confidence to hopelessness and back. Though apparently strong willed they collapse in the face of difficulties. Their unapologetic, anti-social attitudes will complicate their relationships and dim their fortunes. Their sexuality is ferocious and embarrassment unknown to them. They often carry the burden of unresolved ancestral (congenital) illnesses and are haunted by the unsettled dead."

LUNAR MONTH: YANG EARTH MONKEY (1848, 1908, 1968, 2028, 2088) ‘Solitary Monkey’
“Earth Monkeys are charming, eloquent and moody. They have great good fortune due to previous causes. They attract excellent helpers and mentors and win the respect of many people. Most of their plans succeed due to perseverance. Not attentive partners, they do enjoy parenting and will be supported in old age by loving children. Their immunity is not strong and they will catch all contagious illnesses around them. They are also prone to liver disorders.”

QI NODE: 1 Spring Begins
Yang Reverses Yin
"Though Spring Begins means the return of yang qi it is really mostly theoretical. We feel that Yin is done, but Yang is still only active 'under the surface'. The overall trend has shifted towards Yang but it may not be accompanied by much apparent change, like warm weather or increased stamina. The first new moon begins the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year). Spring Festival, celebrated for the 2 weeks of this qi node, in China is like Christmas, New Year, Fourth of July and everyone's birthday all rolled into one. Everyone celebrates and is very generous and sociable to encourage spring to grow. This is the gan ying principle. It is a celebration of yang renewal.

"During this qi node qi is best at 3am. One should practice neigong just before dawn facing - northeast. Do not exert yourself, but let the yang qi play - this renews us and gives us longevity. During the day eat several small meals with family and friends. Renew relationships.

"Acts of renewal and generosity are auspicious and rewarding. Avoid being very productive and do not sign agreements.

"With the beginning of spring the Liver/hun 'comes alive'. In the early nodes of spring dreams can be very revealing of our physical and spiritual condition and the state of our ancestors. As the ghosts (yin) of winter fade into the background the beneficent ancestors (yang) come forward. Spring qi has a kind of hope in it - we dream both day and night during this time. Though our qi resources are not yet solid, it is very auspicious to being cultivating new and renewable projects. The caution is important - if we move too fast the weak underpinnings of spring yang collapse. If impulse accepts education all goes well."
LM The Way of Three Treasures

LUNAR HEXAGRAM: 15 Qian: Modesty

“With true modesty anything can be accomplished. In modest steps a great journey can be accomplished. Even when strong action needs to be taken, do not abandon modesty.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi

MONDAY February 12, Yin Wood Pig 27
Hexagram 64 Weiji: Not Yet Across
Lunar Mansion: The Bow / Deer
Solar Indicator: Harvest

Though there may be a gullible and strong willed character to the day, eat simply and
relax into the flow. Opportunity is abundant, especially in concert with others.

"Expect to be unfulfilled at first and then later satisfied. The old has not quite turned
into the new...Good for waiting and preparation, education and growth. Bad for pressing
forward, conflict, lawsuits, examinations, and travel."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 64 Weiji

“Auspicious activity: It is auspicious to build and buy new property. It is an especially
good day to get married. It is favorable for divination, signing contracts, romance/courtship
and all forms of partnership. Good auspice is especially related to festive group events,
banqueting, family gatherings and/or community celebrations. It is an excellent day to take
office (begin a new job).
Contraindicated Activity: It is not auspicious for funerals/burials (become unsettled:
ghosts). Seclusion or isolation is unfavorable (miss opportunity).”
LM Notes: The Bow

"Let new resources and assistants come forward by standing back.”
LM Notes: Harvest

TUESDAY February 13, Yang Fire Rat 28
Hexagram 40 Jie: Release
Lunar Mansion: The Wings / Serpent
Solar Indicator: Open

The reckless Robin Hood quality of today may challenge the otherwise respectful
conduct that is appropriate. Let an open heart tame the unbridled spontaneity.

“...Nowhere to go means you have no particular goal or purpose because the freedom
to choose is new. You can let things come and go, that is just let them open up by
themselves. After every period of restraint there is a release (southwest). Inhibition
naturally thaws like ice in the spring.”

LM Changing: Zhouyi 40 Jie

“Good auspice relies heavily on inclusiveness, following custom (manners), social
convention and guileless loyalty. Good fortune comes through the natural ‘chain of
command’. Misfortune is directly related to breaking taboos, ignoring family,
conventions and/or defaulting on commitments of any kind. Lie still, move slowly
and methodically and the snake won’t strike.

“It is auspicious to continue routine work and to uphold and support your superiors.
It is auspicious for religious rituals (not ancestral), divination (and compliance), family
gatherings and celebrations. It is favorable for sponsoring and/or attending public and
cultural events.
“It is very unfavorable for marriage (cause chronic illness and premature death for
both partners), funerals and burials. It is inauspicious for traveling far from home.
Buildings begun today become money pits (need constant repair) and the construction
will cause injuries and/or accidental deaths.”
LM Notes: The Wings

WEDNESDAY February 14, Yin Fire Ox 29
Hexagram Consult the Oracle
Lunar Mansion: The Chariot / Earthworm
Solar Indicator: Shut

Frustration today may offer important wisdom. Consult the oracle for details and kick
it down a notch or several. Toggle between rest and productivity...

“Auspicious Activity: Great success comes to anyone who initiates and continues industry.
Business booms, all prosper. Building and remodeling go well (bring prestige). Marriages
will inspire both partners to be their best and they will produce brilliant offspring. Funerals,
memorials and burials will allow the dead true peace (and produce scholar offspring).
Contraindicated activity: It is very unfavorable to procrastinate and/or postpone.”
LM Notes: The Chariot

THURSDAY February 15, Yang Earth Tiger 30
Hexagram 59 Huan: Overflowing
Lunar Mansion: The Horn / Crocodile
Solar Indicator: Design

There is tremendous energy available, especially favorable for beginnings and taking stock.

"Huan is generally favorable and associated with getting rid of the old and bringing in the
new. It is the refreshment that comes from deep and honest spiritual revelation."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 59 Huan

“It is auspicious to begin or initiate any activity (marriage) or series of activities. It is a
good day to buy property, plant a garden, apply for and/or begin a new job. It is ideal to
apply to or enter school, begin a construction or remodeling project. It is auspicious for
marriage proposals and making your case as asking permission is favorably received. All
activities related to children and/or young people are auspicious. Its first appearance each
year (or any Spring season) is particularly auspicious. A child born on this day will be
intelligent and fortunate.

“Contraindicated activity: Funerals, memorials, constructing tombs and burials will
bring about disaster to a family. It is not time for exerted effort or overcoming obstacles.
The qi is fresh and unformed and therefore should not be pressed into fixation (slavery).”
LM Notes: The Horn

“It is an excellent day to recover wisdom by stepping back, planning, recalling alliances
and reassessing our position.”
LM Notes: Design
