YEAR of the FIRE ROOSTER 4715

(Native Yin Metal) Analytical

"Charged: critical, intelligent, confident, alert, social, dignified, articulate, forthright, spontaneous, inspired, financially adept, challenging, meticulous and tidy.

Deplete: volatile, rude, proud, argumentative, blunt, vulgar, tactless, close-minded, hypochondriac, vain, snobby, aloof, harshly competitive and fanatical.

Image: The Rooster talked about in Chinese Astrology is well known to the Chinese as the ordinary version of the phoenix. This bird is an ancient amulet used to ward off the 5 poisonous creatures (snake, scorpion, spider, centipede and toad). The Rooster (not hen) is sacrificed only at rituals requiring oaths (trustworthy). The most familiar image is, of course, the Rooster lording over hens in the yard and dueling to the death in a cockfight - extrovert extraordinaire. There is the precision of its sharp beak (intellectual), the powerful wings (competitive) and the call to sun at dawn and dusk (eloquence). Basic materials become luxury items when chosen by the Rooster eye. Roosters collect books and documents.

Fire Rooster (1837, 1897, 1957, 2017, 2077) 'Solitary Rooster'

Fire Roosters are skillful, sensual and restless characters. They are excellent craftspeople and have a strong ambition to escape the limitations of poverty and class. They flip-flop from iron self-confidence to hopelessness and back. Though apparently strong willed they collapse in the face of difficulties. Their unapologetic, anti-social attitudes will complicate their relationships and dim their fortunes. Their sexuality is ferocious and embarrassment unknown to them. They often carry the burden of unresolved ancestral (congenital) illnesses and are haunted by the unsettled dead."

LUNAR MONTH: YANG EARTH MONKEY (1848, 1908, 1968, 2028, 2088) ‘Solitary Monkey’

“Earth Monkeys are charming, eloquent and moody. They have great good fortune due to previous causes. They attract excellent helpers and mentors and win the respect of many people. Most of their plans succeed due to perseverance. Not attentive partners, they do enjoy parenting and will be supported in old age by loving children. Their immunity is not strong and they will catch all contagious illnesses around them. They are also prone to liver disorders.”

QI NODE: 1 Spring Begins

Yang Reverses Yin

"Though Spring Begins means the return of yang qi it is really mostly theoretical. We feel that Yin is done, but Yang is still only active 'under the surface'. The overall trend has shifted towards Yang but it may not be accompanied by much apparent change, like warm weather or increased stamina. The first new moon begins the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year). Spring Festival, celebrated for the 2 weeks of this qi node, in China is like Christmas, New Year, Fourth of July and everyone's birthday all rolled into one. Everyone celebrates and is very generous and sociable to encourage spring to grow. This is the gan ying principle. It is a celebration of yang renewal.

"During this qi node qi is best at 3am. One should practice neigong just before dawn facing - northeast. Do not exert yourself, but let the yang qi play - this renews us and gives us longevity. During the day eat several small meals with family and friends. Renew relationships.

"Acts of renewal and generosity are auspicious and rewarding. Avoid being very productive and do not sign agreements.

"With the beginning of spring the Liver/hun 'comes alive'. In the early nodes of spring dreams can be very revealing of our physical and spiritual condition and the state of our ancestors. As the ghosts (yin) of winter fade into the background the beneficent ancestors (yang) come forward. Spring qi has a kind of hope in it - we dream both day and night during this time. Though our qi resources are not yet solid, it is very auspicious to being cultivating new and renewable projects. The caution is important - if we move too fast the weak underpinnings of spring yang collapse. If impulse accepts education all goes well."

Hexagram 18 Gu: Contamination

Solar Indicator: Maintain

Today offers the opportunity to be gentle and forgiving. Tame the gossip and instead

allow alliances to step forward; appreciate the cofactors of life experience.

"Gu indicates that life is a continuous flow, not just an individual personal experience.

Success is not simply a matter of personal control. Unseen environmental forces do

affect us."

“It is auspicious to build, remodel, do fengshui adjustments, take exams, and maintain

routine industry. The earth can be dug (gardening = wealth) and it is a good day to

donate, buy or sell (investment) real estate. Community or charity projects will flourish.

It is favorable for apologies. It is favorable for medical treatments (particularly for

initiating a series of treatments for a chronic condition).

“It is not auspicious to postpone needed repairs, apologies or difficult tasks. It is not good

for funerals or burials of those who died by suicide, violence or sudden illness because

others will soon follow.”

Hexagram 46 Sheng: Ascending

Solar Indicator: Destroy

Today may be emotionally unpredictable. Eat lightly and find especially nourishing food.

It’s not about industry today but rather resolution and offerings for ancestors. When in

doubt, step back and subordinate.

"Since Sheng is about ascending naturally, the auspices stay favorable if you are receptive

and subordinate. Your talents are recognized and they suit the times. Steady gradual

progress is indicated."

“It is especially auspicious for funeral/burial (resolution of fate). It is also good to make

gifts/donations to temples and offerings to the divinities, spiritual guardians and make

memorials for the dead (ancestors/lineage). It is advantageous for entering retreat,

meditation, fasting, spiritual initiation, ordination and ‘crossing over’ into transitory states.

“It is not auspicious for worldly industry of any kind. It is a bad day to go to war (many

casualties) or get married (husband will die early). One should avoid the wilderness

possession/illness will result).”

Hexagram 6 Song: Disputing

Solar Indicator: Danger

Today, like yesterday, is unstable and best approached through caution and retreat. Ease

up on your grudges and try on a little elegance to get you through.

"When a situation lacks clarity it is best to retreat and wait for fortunes to change. Using

litigation is a costly and risky way to succeed. If disputes are successfully resolved,

caution is still required in handling the outcomes. Do not exert yourself in complicated

or obstructed situations. Do not force things. It is favorable to self-reflect and to seek

counsel.”

“It is especially auspicious for seclusion and the composing of memorials. Is is favorable

to make offerings and practice divination. It is fruitful on this day to fast, enter retreat,

practice meditation and receive spiritual initiation and/or ordination (lineage). It is ideal

for funerals / burials and the complete resolution of the unsettled dead (exorcism).

“It is not auspicious for marriage. Do not indulge in lawsuits (as it will ruin 3 generations).”

Today opens up a bit, but caution and modesty is still advised. Keep it simple...

"The situation is harsh, fated and seemingly irreversible. When Kun is divined efforts to

escape often lead to the worsening of circumstances. Diving Kun is inauspicious in all cases...

Time will tell whether enduring such hardship and pain will make you a stronger person.

The good news is, the pain will pass.”

“Think powerful, but gentle succeeds...It is auspicious for building and routine work (you

will meet / hobnob with the powerful). Good auspice is directly related to continuity,

convention and not innovation.

“It is not auspicious for funerals/burials or marriages (rape, divorce). It is a dangerous

day for travel and/or medical treatments.”
