INDICATORS - The pattern components that continuously rotate per year, month, daily, lunar or solar phase. The indicators below articulate the current alignment.

LUNAR YEAR: EARTH DOG 4716 - Faithful Vigilance

YANG DOG

“Charged: loyal, caring, protective, direct, helpful, intuitive, insightful, private, calm under

fire, just, expansive, congenial and quiet.

Deplete: stubborn, argumentative, spiteful, vain, rigid, frozen with anxiety, stingy and

excessively critical.

Image: The Dog talked about in Chinese Astrology is the Chow. This dog has been domesticated for more than 5000 years, both as an aggressive house guard and a battlefield companion. The battlefield Chow was ferocious at crippling the horses of the enemy chariots while never losing sight of its trainer (whose corpse it would protect even with its own life). The Dog epitomizes loyalty."

YANG EARTH DOG (1898, 1958, 2018, 2078) ‘Mountain Dog’

EARTH is the native element of the Dog Earthly Branch. Earth Dogs are modest, funny

and independent characters. They are light-hearted and generous, often quitting difficult

situations and avoiding confrontations. A short temper is hidden behind their joking. Strong

idealistic aspirations fill their youth and soften as the hardships of life close in. They do not

express their feelings or thoughts easily. They are prone to qi stagnation and poor circulation."

LUNAR MONTH: YIN FIRE SNAKE (1857, 1917, 1977, 2037) ‘Fish Pond Snake’

FIRE is the native element of the Snake Earthly Branch. Fire Snakes are mesmerizing, ambitious and disciplined characters. They have great previous causes and easily elicit the respect and support from many powerful and influential people. Their speech and charm are seductive. They have a pronounced leadership capacity. They always get what they want. En eldest child born this year will benefit his/her entire family. Their health is good. All their illnesses start out as emotional disturbances. Their spontaneity is epic - but so is their distractedness.

QI NODE: 8 Grain Sprouts

Yang Expands

"Yang in the Grain Sprouts qi node agrees to leadership through education - yang qi agrees to stay in the channels. Yang matures and takes on a less impulsive quality - it becomes steady in its discipline. The Prince leads his first successful campaign. What were fertile fields now show sprouts. The promise is strong. Trees and shrubs flourish. There is a 'small fullness'. The sages gather herbs from mountains in peace. Some early fruits are harvested. The qi is best a 10am, get up early and practice neigong in the shade, away from the wind. Several short sessions in the day would be best. Bucket bathes before bed and retire shortly after dark. Working closely with others on big projects is auspicious. Be a part of something big - something that concerns more than your personal comfort and routines."

"It is best to subordinate to or ally yourself with the strong or wait to accumulate more strength and resources. Do not be rambunctious, distracted or diverted. Today may be a bit tricky, due not only to the volatility and gregariousness of the day’s character (Water Pig) but to the other indicators as well. Aim for light-heartedness, and calibrate with appropriate discipline and generosity. “Unfavorable for planning or forward progress. Expect to be frustrated but make small gains. It is a good time to seek counsel from those with expertise and wisdom...Try a little self-reflection and humility." LM Changing: Zhouyi 38 Kui “It is auspicious to build, remodel, do fengshui adjustments, take exams, and maintain routine industry. The earth can be dug (gardening = wealth) and it is a good day to donate, buy or sell (investment) real estate. Community or charity projects will flourish. It is favorable for apologies. It is favorable for medical treatments (particularly for initiating a series of treatments for a chronic condition). “It is not auspicious to postpone needed repairs, apologies or difficult tasks. After yesterday’s auspices encouraged caution, today is perhaps even more precarious. Down shift, in every way possible. "Things are auspicious for the underdog, but early success collapses. The situation is touch and go. Things can end up okay if some sacrifices are made." LM Changing: Zhouyi 54 Guimei “It is especially auspicious for funeral/burial (resolution of fate). It is also good to make gifts/donations to temples and offerings to the divinities, spiritual guardians and make memorials for the dead (ancestors/lineage). It is advantageous for entering retreat, meditation, fasting, spiritual initiation, ordination and ‘crossing over’ into transitory states. “It is not auspicious for worldly industry of any kind. “It is especially auspicious for seclusion and the composing of memorials. It is favorable to make offerings and practice divination. It is fruitful on this day to fast, enter retreat, practice meditation and receive spiritual initiation and/or ordination (lineage). It is ideal for funerals / burials and the complete resolution of the unsettled dead (exorcism).
