INDICATORS - The pattern components that continuously rotate per year, month, daily, lunar or solar phase. The indicators below articulate the current alignment.

LUNAR YEAR: YANG EARTH DOG 4716 - Faithful Vigilance

“Charged: loyal, caring, protective, direct, helpful, intuitive, insightful, private, calm under

fire, just, expansive, congenial and quiet.

Deplete: stubborn, argumentative, spiteful, vain, rigid, frozen with anxiety, stingy and

excessively critical.

Image: The Dog talked about in Chinese Astrology is the Chow. This dog has been domesticated for more than 5000 years, both as an aggressive house guard and a battlefield companion. The battlefield Chow was ferocious at crippling the horses of the enemy chariots while never losing sight of its trainer (whose corpse it would protect even with its own life). The Dog epitomizes loyalty."

YANG EARTH DOG (1898, 1958, 2018, 2078) ‘Mountain Dog’

EARTH is the native element of the Dog Earthly Branch. Earth Dogs are modest, funny

and independent characters. They are light-hearted and generous, often quitting difficult

situations and avoiding confrontations. A short temper is hidden behind their joking. Strong

idealistic aspirations fill their youth and soften as the hardships of life close in. They do not

express their feelings or thoughts easily. They are prone to qi stagnation and poor circulation."

LUNAR MONTH: YANG METAL MONKEY (1860, 1920, 1980, 2040) ‘Silver Fruit Monkey’

METAL is the native element of the Monkey Earthly Branch. Metal Monkeys are respectable, attractive and powerful characters. They have great good fortune and demonstrate it with great versatility and alacrity. They attract many powerful helpers and admirers. Despite their excellent capabilities they may choose to withdraw from the world and/or avoid the Monkey’s characteristic gregariousness. All good fortune can, however, be lost through lawsuit, in war or dangerous environments. Their immunity is weak and they easily pick up contagious diseases.

"Yin Seduces, Metal

"The End of Heat qi node is just that. It is the end of what the Chinese call 'late summer'. In this qu node autumn winds, though still slightly damp, turn slowly drier. Summer's yang is completely exhausted and harvest can begin in earnest.

It is common for the body to feel slightly 'heavy' at this time of year because the fluids and qi are slowing down in anticipation of the Dry and Cold. Harvesting is the main qi pattern. Gather in your resources, plan for the less productive months ahead.

What we harvest now is what we will rely on during the months ahead.

The dreams and aspirations of spring/summer must now be edited with sound and practical strategies.

During this qi node qi is best at 4 pm. Neigong should be practiced in short sessions in morning and afternoon. Afternoon naps are recommended (10 - 25 min). Plan to be at home most evenings. Party's over, time to clean house and tighten up the protocols."

Hexagram 44 Gou: Meeting Lunar Mansion: The Tail / Tiger Solar Indicator: Level

Though the character of today is sensual, lethargic and aimless...disciplined practice and the right time are on your side time for family and business. Avoid the sensual nature of today and keep your knickers on. 

“Inauspicious for all intimate personal relationships. It is a time to withdraw and cut your losses. Both sexes are at risk to be abused by the inappropriateness of a relationship. Think rot and ruin. A kind of corruption has entered the very foundation of things.”

“It is auspicious to start a building (brings prosperity), get married (brings fertility), bury the dead (resolves karma) and educate the young (secure longevity) on this day. It is a good time to move house (into a city). These actions today cause a person or family and all their projects to flourish. On this day investments increase in value. It is ideal to give or receive (spend) inheritances. Enjoying the arts is appropriate. Lost treasures can be found on this day. It is ideal for self-cultivation, meditation and enjoyment. It is a time of recognizing and acknowledging achievement with rewards. Evening is less auspicious.”

Hexagram 24 Fu: Return Lunar Mansion: The Basket / Leopard Solar Indicator: Settle

Today continues the timeliness available this week. Be sensitive and resourceful today, laze will only miss out on good things. And, get what you can accomplished before Friday. 

“Short-term plans succeed in the context of a broad view. Things are turning for the better. Routine work comes to fruition. It is favorable to have a clear goal before setting out."

"It is auspicious to marry, work hard, purchase, build and remodel (new door =  new resources) on this day. It is auspicious to continue your routine work, review and reinvest. Acquiring wealth (work, invest and collecting debts) is highlighted. Good for burials, memorials and funerals (rain of blessings from the ancestors). Contraindicated activity: Laziness, gossip and slander."

Today's mix of characters, Dog year, Monkey month and Ox day, may feel a bit confusing or toggle between traits of loyalty, versatility, and/or strength and reliability. When in doubt, go with modesty and completion, routine work and study, practice and generosity.

“Raw impulse is strong but dangerous. Excessive ambitions can bring about personal disaster. There will be setbacks in progress. Acting properly when the time is right goes well. In the acquisition of what you want (money or property) it is important to be strong but modest."

routine work bring great success/reward on this day. It is an auspicious day to

bury the dead - they will rest peacefully and benefit the surviving relatives.”

Proud, stubborn and strong, today's character adds further 'impossibility' to a day that otherwise offers conflict. Step out of the way where ever possible and otherwise be gentle, seek council and expect the wobbles. Grace opens further than force today. 

“Zhun is favorable for young people, fresh thinking, new alliances, and gentle progress. Zhun is an inspired, delicate and new situation needing unpretentious leadership and experienced advice to grow. When Zhun is divined inexperience is the basis for difficulties, there are no real outside obstacles. Delays should be expected."
