INDICATORS - The pattern components that continuously rotate per year, month, daily, lunar or solar phase. The indicators below articulate the current alignment.

LUNAR YEAR: YANG EARTH DOG 4716 - Faithful Vigilance

“Charged: loyal, caring, protective, direct, helpful, intuitive, insightful, private, calm under

fire, just, expansive, congenial and quiet.

Deplete: stubborn, argumentative, spiteful, vain, rigid, frozen with anxiety, stingy and

excessively critical.

Image: The Dog talked about in Chinese Astrology is the Chow. This dog has been domesticated for more than 5000 years, both as an aggressive house guard and a battlefield companion. The battlefield Chow was ferocious at crippling the horses of the enemy chariots while never losing sight of its trainer (whose corpse it would protect even with its own life). The Dog epitomizes loyalty."

YANG EARTH DOG (1898, 1958, 2018, 2078) ‘Mountain Dog’

EARTH is the native element of the Dog Earthly Branch. Earth Dogs are modest, funny

and independent characters. They are light-hearted and generous, often quitting difficult

situations and avoiding confrontations. A short temper is hidden behind their joking. Strong

idealistic aspirations fill their youth and soften as the hardships of life close in. They do not

express their feelings or thoughts easily. They are prone to qi stagnation and poor circulation."

LUNAR MONTH: YANG METAL MONKEY (1860, 1920, 1980, 2040) ‘Silver Fruit Monkey’

METAL is the native element of the Monkey Earthly Branch. Metal Monkeys are respectable, attractive and powerful characters. They have great good fortune and demonstrate it with great versatility and alacrity. They attract many powerful helpers and admirers. Despite their excellent capabilities they may choose to withdraw from the world and/or avoid the Monkey’s characteristic gregariousness. All good fortune can, however, be lost through lawsuit, in war or dangerous environments. Their immunity is weak and they easily pick up contagious diseases.

QI NODE: 15 White Dew

“Yin Descends "White

Dew qi node shows the shifting relationship between collapsing yang and ascendant yin. When yin 'descends' it is actually taking charge - yin style. In the morning white dew is the harbinger of change. The clouds are high in the sky. The growing west wind is cool. Dew is fresh yin qi - a fragile, glimpse of snow. The growing yin almost goes unnoticed. As the last of the summer qi subsides, a cool west wind (qi) appears and the season of autumn begins and develops. Geese migrate south and fall harvest continues in earnest.

“White Dew is a time of clarity and stillness. During this period the environment grows ever more yin and is characterized by a cool, dry wind (metal element). During this qi node the environmental qi is best at 5pm. Neigong should be done indoors. Do not eat at all after 7pm.

In the imagination of the poets and hermits of China it is a time of year when white nymphs are offering inspiration. Unlike their superiors, the Jade Lads and Ladies, these nymphs inhabit the sea and forest, not the Celestial realms. White dew, a rare or first form of frost of the year, is the signal of their presence. They show us white dew to remind us to prepare for the arrival of the Celestials (yin).”

LUNAR MONTH: YIN METAL ROOSTER (1861, 1921, 1981, 2041) “Caged Rooster”

METAL is the native element of the Rooster Earthly Branch. Metal Roosters are meticulous, articulate and confident characters. They have great good fortune in material terms. They make good financial advisers and this attracts many people to them. Their bodies are strong but they are troubled by mental instability. Their ability to analyze often leads to belligerence and this undermines their good fortune. Their argumentative compulsion to win is a defense mechanism for their delicate mental states. They are prone to mental disorders, kidney failure and exhaustion.

“It is auspicious to build, remodel and make fengshui adjustments (especially to enhance career office/shop). It is auspicious to initiate business, negotiate and sign contracts and get married

(all of which have long-term benefit). Expect to be generously compensated for work done today. “Public welfare projects succeed. Temple buildings brings benefits for many generations.

Conversely it is auspicious to enter retreat if there is great sincerity (renunciation) and strong resolve (compassion for others). The benefits you receive on this day should be shared with others (living and dead). Burials on this day are celebrated by both the living and dead ancestors (bring great wealth).
