INDICATORS - The pattern components that continuously rotate per year, month, daily, lunar or solar phase. The indicators below articulate the current alignment.
LUNAR YEAR: YANG EARTH DOG 4716 - Faithful Vigilance
“Charged: loyal, caring, protective, direct, helpful, intuitive, insightful, private, calm under
fire, just, expansive, congenial and quiet.
Deplete: stubborn, argumentative, spiteful, vain, rigid, frozen with anxiety, stingy and
excessively critical.
Image: The Dog talked about in Chinese Astrology is the Chow. This dog has been domesticated for more than 5000 years, both as an aggressive house guard and a battlefield companion. The battlefield Chow was ferocious at crippling the horses of the enemy chariots while never losing sight of its trainer (whose corpse it would protect even with its own life). The Dog epitomizes loyalty."
YANG EARTH DOG (1898, 1958, 2018, 2078) ‘Mountain Dog’
EARTH is the native element of the Dog Earthly Branch. Earth Dogs are modest, funny
and independent characters. They are light-hearted and generous, often quitting difficult
situations and avoiding confrontations. A short temper is hidden behind their joking. Strong
idealistic aspirations fill their youth and soften as the hardships of life close in. They do not
express their feelings or thoughts easily. They are prone to qi stagnation and poor circulation."
LUNAR MONTH: YIN METAL ROOSTER (1861, 1921, 1981, 2041) “Caged Rooster”
METAL is the native element of the Rooster Earthly Branch. Metal Roosters are meticulous, articulate and confident characters. They have great good fortune in material terms. They make good financial advisers and this attracts many people to them. Their bodies are strong but they are troubled by mental instability. Their ability to analyze often leads to belligerence and this undermines their good fortune. Their argumentative compulsion to win is a defense mechanism for their delicate mental states. They are prone to mental disorders, kidney failure and exhaustion.

QI NODE: 15 White Dew
“Yin Descends
"White Dew qi node shows the shifting relationship between collapsing yang and ascendant yin. When yin 'descends' it is actually taking charge - yin style. In the morning white dew is the harbinger of change. The clouds are high in the sky. The growing west wind is cool. Dew is fresh yin qi - a fragile, glimpse of snow. The growing yin almost goes unnoticed. As the last of the summer qi subsides, a cool west wind (qi) appears and the season of autumn begins and develops. Geese migrate south and fall harvest continues in earnest.
“White Dew is a time of clarity and stillness. During this period the environment grows ever more yin and is characterized by a cool, dry wind (metal element). During this qi node the environmental qi is best at 5pm. Neigong should be done indoors. Do not eat at all after 7pm.
In the imagination of the poets and hermits of China it is a time of year when white nymphs are offering inspiration. Unlike their superiors, the Jade Lads and Ladies, these nymphs inhabit the sea and forest, not the Celestial realms. White dew, a rare or first form of frost of the year, is the signal of their presence. They show us white dew to remind us to prepare for the arrival of the Celestials (yin).”

LUNAR HEXAGRAM 58 Dui: Pleasuring
"Generally
auspicious and associated with a light-handed approach to things. It is not how
you find pleasure, but how you express it that will determine the longevity of
your happiness."

Hexagram 30 Li: Oriole
Lunar Mansion: The Well / Tapir
There is
a shrewd and frivolous possibility for the day, contrary to the auspices which
otherwise encourage dedicated focus on calibration. There is a timely window of
opportunity. Cancellation is more appropriate than postponement.
“Though things seem bright, one cannot rely on the brightness to last for a long time. Seize the moment. No battle is won without sacrifices on both sides."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 30 Li
“It is auspicious to build, remodel, do fengshui adjustments, take exams, and maintain
routine industry. The earth can be dug (gardening = wealth) and it is a good day to donate,
buy or sell (investment) real estate. Community or charity projects will flourish. It is
favorable for apologies. It is favorable for medical treatments (particularly for initiating
a series of treatments for a chronic condition).
“It is not auspicious to postpone needed repairs, apologies or difficult tasks. It is not good
for funerals or burials of those who died by suicide, violence or sudden illness because
others will soon follow.”
LM Notes: The Well
"Today calculated loss (cancellation) succeeds”

FRIDAY September 21, Yang Fire Dragon 12
Hexagram 49 Ge: Molting
Lunar Mansion: The Ghost / Sheep
Solar Indicator: Danger
Impulsive, lovable and handy...the energy available from the
character of today may get you into trouble. Go for rest, release, digestion,
meditation, and honoring ancestors, nothing too proactive or assertive.
"It is a favorable time for dramatic reform and revolution - night becoming day. If you are ready to accept serious change and ready to let go of the past, everything is favorable. If you fear change, Ge
donates the painful torment of unsuccessful resistance.”
LM Changing: Zhouyi 49 Ge
“It is especially auspicious for funeral/burial (resolution of fate). It is also good to make gifts/donations to temples and offerings to the divinities, spiritual guardians and make memorials for the dead
(ancestors/lineage). It is advantageous for entering retreat, meditation, fasting, spiritual initiation, ordination and ‘crossing over’ into transitory states.
“It is not auspicious for worldly industry of any kind. It is a bad day to go to war (many casualties) or get married (husband will die early). One should avoid the wilderness (possession/illness will result).”
LM Notes: The Ghost
Doing only what needs to be done is best. Old habits or patterns of pressing forward will invite
catastrophe. Beware grudges.”
LM Notes: Danger

LUNAR HEXAGRAM 22 Bi: Ornament
"Bi is favorable when appearances match the inner nature of things. Simplicity, rather than extravagance, is recommended as the aesthetic of confidence. Beware of the deception that comes from superficial decoration."

SATURDAY September 22, Yin Fire Snake 13
Hexagram 13 Tong Ren: Community
Lunar Mansion: The Willow / Roebuck
Solar Indicator: Complete
Another day for retreat, alliance and rest. The character of the
day adds a Midas Touch...but also some distractedness.
“It is favorable to go forward in concert with others after reflection and alliance is established."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 13 Tong Ren
“It is especially auspicious for seclusion and the composing of memorials. It is favorable to make offerings and practice divination. It is fruitful on this day to fast, enter retreat, practice meditation and receive
spiritual initiation and/or ordination (lineage). It is ideal for funerals / burials and the complete resolution of the unsettled dead (exorcism). “It is not auspicious for marriage. Do not indulge in lawsuits (as it will ruin 3 generations).”
LM Notes: The Willow
“It is a day for resting on your laurels...The way of perfecting power is austerity and restraint. Do less, have less, show less and seek nothing. Enjoy what is already manifest.”
LM Notes: Complete

Qi Node: 16 Autumn Equinox
Yin and Yang Equality
"When the qi node Autumn Equinox arrives annual Yin qi is established. Day and night are equal. During this period the environment grows ever more yin and is characterized by a cool, dry wind (metal element). It is one of four annual pivots that rectify the annual qi. Yin and yang are equal - day and night are equal. Storehouses are filling up and the work of harvest is nearly complete. There is a pleasant stillness.
During this qi node qi is best at 6pm. Neigong should be done indoors morning and evening in short sessions. When yin/yang equality is reached and yin is about to take charge, it is best to eat food that has a higher jing/qi concentration. Breakfast can be eaten a little bit later than in spring/summer but is should be hearty. Do not eat at all after 7pm. All meals should be experienced in a quiet and undistracted setting. You needn't be a hermit, but avoid being social at every meal."

SUNDAY September 23, Yang Earth Horse 14
Hexagram 19 Lin: Approach
Lunar Mansion: The Birdstar / Horse
Solar Indicator: Harvest
Today's character and the auspices align much better today than
over the past few. There is strength and impulse available today to utilize and
guide, though not without obstacle. Find your center, welcome alliance and play
with being both a leader and a follower today...
"You must be patient and appropriate in your progress, but do not procrastinate. The auspice is for forward action."
LM Changing: Zhouyi 19 Lin
“Think powerful, but gentle succeeds...It is auspicious for building and routine work (you will meet / hobnob with the powerful). Good auspice is directly related to continuity, convention and not innovation.
“It is not auspicious for funerals/burials or marriages (rape, divorce). It is a dangerous day for travel and/or medical treatments.”
LM Notes: The Birdstar
"Let new resources and assistants come forward by standing back.”
