LUNAR YEAR: EARTH DOG 4716 - Faithful Vigilance

YANG DOG

“Charged: loyal, caring, protective, direct, helpful, intuitive, insightful, private, calm under

fire, just, expansive, congenial and quiet.

Deplete: stubborn, argumentative, spiteful, vain, rigid, frozen with anxiety, stingy and

excessively critical.

Image: The Dog talked about in Chinese Astrology is the Chow. This dog has been domesticated for more than 5000 years, both as an aggressive house guard and a battlefield companion. The battlefield Chow was ferocious at crippling the horses of the enemy chariots while never losing sight of its trainer (whose corpse it would protect even with its own life). The Dog epitomizes loyalty."

YANG EARTH DOG (1898, 1958, 2018, 2078) ‘Mountain Dog’

EARTH is the native element of the Dog Earthly Branch. Earth Dogs are modest, funny

and independent characters. They are light-hearted and generous, often quitting difficult

situations and avoiding confrontations. A short temper is hidden behind their joking. Strong

idealistic aspirations fill their youth and soften as the hardships of life close in. They do not

express their feelings or thoughts easily. They are prone to qi stagnation and poor circulation."

LUNAR MONTH: YANG FIRE DRAGON (1916, 1976, 2036, 2096) ‘Sky Dragon’

Fire Dragons are extremely resourceful, lovable and attractive characters. They are very good with their hands and have great good fortune. They repeatedly overestimate their abilities and refuse help. They have a large and diverse group of friends and stay close to their family. Conversely their intolerance of their enemies (and weakness) often unseats them, giving their enemies great power over them. Their impulsive energy means there is never a dull moment.

Yin and Yang Courtship

"Spring ends with the inter-seasonal qi node Grain Rains. This qi node is the transition
from spring to summer. It charges the growth process with increased warmth (Yang) and
Rain (Yin). The growing and transforming process is now seen everywhere in Nature.
The power of growth hits the ground and spreads. Flowers bloom in orchards. Buds, the
true outcome of spring, appear everywhere with the promise of abundance. The mantle
of power is given to the princely forms of Yang. It is auspicious if thunder (sound of spring)
is heard in this qi node to welcome the power of summer - just as it is auspicious that the
quiet of autumn ends in the utter silence of winter.

"It is a time of final preparations, even ceremonious preparations. It is a good time to thank
the wise mentors who have helped to shape your life. It is a good time to graduate from
school or move on to higher education. New and better job (promotions), new and better
address (moving house) and the chance to reinvent yourself is present themselves. It is a
time to enjoy music, play music and dance. If your cultivation of spring was insufficient
or negligent you will be held back with Damp (criticism, lethargy, allergies and indigestion)."

“You are repeatedly trapped and struggling. You must stoically accept restraint.

If you accept that you are in a sinkhole, find the message in it, and develop patience,

things go well."

“It is auspicious to stay home (familiar places / people), study, enter retreat, initiate

austerities and make offerings to the dead. It is wise to postpone everything proactive

(marriage, building, funeral, burials).

“It is not auspicious to be industrious in any way (building will bring loss). All positive

events that occur today will ultimately have negative results (marriage will end in

disloyalty and divorce). Medical treatments on this day will complicate existing illness

- turn acute into chronic (possibly bring on premature death). Confrontation or battle on

this day will lead to injury or death.”

Tap into the patience and humor of the day, reassess rather than press forward.

“What is unformed has great potential but is also lacks clarity - so success, even progress,

is difficult. It is unfavorable for those who are anxious and impulsive. People of limited

capacity may miscalculate their ability to make use of an opportunity. Read the advice

patiently and do not consult the Zhouyi again on this matter. Meng is often divined when

you are obsessed and anxious about something."

"To consult a physician and consult oracles (divination of all kinds) will bring clarity. It

is a good day for industry (labor/gardening = long term wealth), building (restores clarity)

and burying the dead (enhance intuition). It is inauspicious to take anything for granted.

It is inauspicious for revolution, confrontation, breaking taboos, neglecting responsibilities

or travel (someone at home dies/gets sick)."

success.

"Shi is time for order and cooperation. Agreements and alliances foster good fortune.

When Shi is divined teamwork and personal discipline can transform danger into success,

but losses will occur.”

enter retreat and practice meditation. It is good to be industrious close to home (house

"It is inauspicious to push forward aggressively. Do not get married, finalize divorce, bury

the dead (it will create family dissent), spend savings or speculate financially as these all

lead to losing resources and cooperation."

firming up plans. Confidence grows as the right time and necessary resources are now

part of the vision. The qi is forming patterns and remaining in the channels. Practice and

disciplined cultivation bring confidence. The prince (yang) is gaining support. Discipline

in small matters succeeds.  True confidence requires no aggression. Though nothing needs

to be done, the natural maturation of strength occurs.”
